Quit hijacking the previously rejected gyro gunsight post with the previously rejected fuel mixture post.   :D

Geez, you're really starting to turn south. This thread isn't even on a second page yet. Give it a chance, will you? And your argument is that it would be "too difficult". As if any of these ideas would be implemented without the option operate automatically. And we get to do this stuff in the safety of our homes, doesn't sound too difficult to me.
not rejecting it outright...there are a lot of things that would be "cool" to have implemented but...you have to look at the big picture...what you find cool may not give you what you think it will...seriously, how much are you willing to deal with when you're trying to win a fight and land kills in the main arenas? constantly adjusting your fuel/air mixture for maximum performance to get to 20k, or turn off the manual adjustments so you can fight? so you have a joystick/throttle setup with a ton of buttons to assign to different tasks...but joe 2weekersqueaker only has a logitech combat stick...and hasn't figured out the keyboard mappings yet...penalize him for not knowing how to manually set prop pitch and fuel air mixture? he's at enough of a disadvantage because he doesn't have the equipment or the acm skills you have...

I was wondering why we don't have this for our little game. Gyro gunsight certaintly existed before and during WW2.

I believe they are not in the game so that everyone is on the same level playing field when it comes to gunnery and predicting lead.

As far as engine management and all that stuff ... could care less if HT does or does not put it in the game. If it was put in the game it would have to be an option, those who choose to use it should not gain any advantage over those who choose not use it.

You want immersion ... have at it ... but you get nothing special above and beyond what the game already does for us on our behalf.

Man, I asked a simple question and really only got about two or three relevant responses. I guess everyone is ADHD these days.

Actually, you're lucky. Given this last post, you're likely now to get a habanero enema.

It's a matter of perspective. Are you penalizing those who want to have fun or rewarding those who want to understand their AC in depth? I say add all that crap if you can - rad flap settings prop pitch, fuel mix, and so on. Let the masters hamster 'em. Let me learn to use 'em to the best of my ability.

note that the sophistication of the mentioned automation courtesy of Kurt Tank will doubtless help even out the D-9s wingloading disadvantage and thus better mimic reality.

Why would I add stuff you request when you don't even know whats in the game now?

Prop pitch has been in game forever. And it appears you don't even use that.

It is a flight sim.

It is a game.  If it were a sim, all that stuff would already be in there.

Read the homepage. It is advertised as such.

The only thing that engine management adds to the game is an extra button to push, that's it.  HiTech has already stated numerous times that he is not going to add engine management beyond what we already have to the game.

It's a physics of flight sim, it's not an engine management sim.

While what you say is obviously correct I think what he meant is that the current engine management model does not require any adjusting of the said pitch like a real life scenario would. Throttle movement is all it takes except if you want to save fuel or glide home with no engine.

I'm not saying that's a bad thing in general though, I for one like to focus on the combat and tinker less with management.
