FB is ok and I only use it to keep up with friends and family from all over the world. Costs less than phone calls and mail these days. Plus I only get on about three or four times a week total.

It seems this topic, or argument, about the pros & cons of Facebook pops up on this forum about once every 2 to 4 weeks.

Then all the negative stuff started - fb worms, phishing, news of infected apps, ads that knew your fb identity.. Swooooooosh down the drain it went.

You'd be surprised how much FB can profile you, and that information is definitely shared/sold. It blows me away how much some people put out there and how easily it can be used against them.

ahhh come on, you know you love watchin the drama unfold...

anyone hear about the Facebook Page "Beaver County Hoez", i live in Beaver County and know 5 people from the page. if you didnt, someone created a page and were posting picks of promiscuous girls from beaver county until it was brought to the attention of the local news and the page was then deleted by facebook. Subsequently there have been 4 additional pages made. The day after it was shown on the news, that was all that was talked about at school though and made some quite interesting convos.

I created my accound last year to play the airline game. Now it just sits there as i dont play the game and i hardly ever get on. If im on, im just creepin... lol

luckily for you nef, the drama seems to cut off once you reach 21 :lol

Not really. My wife does facebook and she's 49.

Its just that once you reach that age its expanded from a small group picking on you to complaints about life and the world in general.
Its short its gone from "he/she's picking on me" to "Everyone is picking on me"

I may put one up for business cause people keep telling me it heps my web presence and is overall good for business.

But on a personal level. I look at it this way. Almost anyone I've wanted to keep in touch with in the last 30+ years. I already do.
Anyone I think I may want to hear from from and havent stayed in touch with. I try to remember why I stopped being in touch with them to begin with and usually remember a pretty good reason.
Anyone I'm currently in touch with... Well, I already am in touch with. So what do I need facebook for? They are only an email or phone call away from anything I care to share with them.

There are a few people. Like less then 10. That I wouldnt mind knowing what ever become of them. But thats about as far as my curiosity takes me.

Stay on the boardwalk.  Don't try to go to the "local" bars and stuff out behind the Casinos, or YOU'LL get a rude awakening.

Just sayin.

Tried telling my son that. But he got turned around and ended up there anyway.
Fortunately One of the locals warned him and his friends that it might be in their best intrests to make their way back to the casinos.

I think the term was as my son told it to me "Boyyy's Yall dont want to be hanging out around this area." Then told them in language I cant repeat here what might happen if they continued going down the street they were on.

He told me it was definately one of his "oh S%($T" moments

My observation has been that it's especially the elderly who get victimized the worst with Facebook. They're naive towards the internet and do not understand that private things do not belong on a public forum like facebook. And they do not know how to treat requests in there with suspicion, they fall to every scam possible just because they think they might offend someone by refusing the half-foreign-language request the friend knows nothing about lol.
