stug would be alot harder to put in the game than the 105mm would be.

That would be only IF HTC cuts corners with their 3D models.
Something tells me they don't.

Also, it looks like they just need to change the barrel thickness; doesn't sound to difficult.

Im all for adding more variants to AH, especially if the chassis is already available in the game.  I would like to the the M3 remodeled, and about 4 more variants of the SdKfz 251 added.

The 105 would be nice, but Im not sure what it would add.

it could act as mobile artillery in a way (they were manly used for artillery purposes) plus that 105mm can pack a punch.

I'd love to see the Sherman 105, though as stated it's an Infantry Support tank and not really good vs other tanks. From what I understand it could fire some shells (not the standard mortars) which would be nice for laying smoke screens.

What was the rate of fire?  How much more does it offer vs the M4/75mm Sherman we already have?

The current big boy in AH tank HE shells is the German Tiger's 88mm, its HE shells weigh 10.06kg and have .97kg worth of TNT.  The 105mm weighs 14.97kg and have 2.18kg of TNT.  That doesn't really say much because the 88mm is that much further ahead than the Soviet 85mm HE and HTC gave them both the same damage value.

if you even read HiTechs post in another thread they said that they were re-working the GV's so they can move without having to acellerate forward/backwards to get into position.

yea i read it. your point?  :headscratch:

to add the stug they'd still have to create a whole new tank.

to create the 105 they'd just have to create a new barrel for the sherman.

105mm alot faster.

I didn't see that thread (or maybe I did???), but if and when they do update the gv's so that tracked vehicles can perform a modified "zero degree" turn (lock 1 tread, move the other), that would be a HUGE step in being able to add in AFV's with no turret.  I can see the StuG III G or StuG IV, Hetzer, and Su-100 in AH's future real easy.  ;)

The 105mm howitzer was carried in a M52 combination mount and a vision cupola was fitted for the commander with a small hatch for the loader. It could fire M1 shells at angles from -10 to +35 degrees at a maximum range of 11500m. About 500 of the M4A3 (105mm) were produced at the Chrysler factory in Detroit from May to September 1944. From September 1944 horizontal volute spring suspension was introduced on the M4A3 (105mm) together with the wider center-guide T66 tracks. The M4A3 (105mm) were deployed to European Theatre from July 1944, and played an indispensable role in the destruction of enemy positions by the U.S. infantry fighting on the front lines.

couldnt find anything about the rate of fire. unless the 105mm howitzer in the sherman is the exact same as the anti-tank gun.
plus it can fire heat round. meaning it could engage other tanks. 105mm heat round would nock a t34 or panzer out in 1 shot.
