Finally experienced the fabled 30mm "dud"
« on: March 05, 2011, 11:39:34 PM »

Actually caught OLDEMON on climb out and drilled him.

Two confirmed hits.  When I saw the flash on the wing, I figured that was it for him.

Kept right on going after the flash, but couldn't figure out how I never got a kill message.
After checking the film, he continued on auto climb for a few seconds: then turned around and RTB.   :cry

After all the lucky kills I've gotten, I guess I can't complain too much.  That was probably my only chance to ever kill that guy though.

The hit in question landed on the left flap.

Flaps out in offline for demonstration.

Results of the attack: not only is the wing still intact, but the flap is undamaged as well.  :headscratch:

thats why I was wondering about 2 hits to the stab ... is the film viewer accurate enough to show exactly where and when hits are registered? :headscratch:

If the hits are on the fuselage, changing your angle in the film viewer can change the perceived contact point.  That doesn't apply in the top down view posted of the hit sprites.
