677th BS B-29 Sky Chief
« on: March 06, 2011, 06:29:06 AM »
This is my skin of a 444th BG, 677th BS B-29 named Sky Chief. VonKost requested this skin as his great uncle 1st Lt. Robert Finneran served as a member of the crew on this aircraft. VonKost's Sky Chief thread.

I've toned down the shininess and upped the dirt for this aircraft compared to the default, as its a CBI bird. Note I can't carry the red band onto the top rear dome surround as this part is also used for the front dome.

Great looking bird!

I have a question though - what do the camel markings represent?

The camels are referring to them flying 'the hump'.

The hump is the mountain ranges between China and India, it was flown while land/sea based resupply was impossible for a time.

29s had to fly in their own gas over the hump.
