Choose pilot/copilot Seat Option
« on: March 06, 2011, 06:20:43 PM »
Didnt see this when I searched but I was wondering if under the current settings we have or wish for the option in which you can switch to the copilots seat or vice versa?  What I mean is in some of the bomber cockpits when I am in aright hand turn it is hard to see as much as I would like to.  Maybe something like a: .copilot  would work much like we do for other settings.  What do you think?

I dont see a major point for this, just go to F3 mode and turn.

I do use the F3 option but at times I like to be able to see instruments and such as well as keep my eye on altitdue when I am at low alt doing turns.

Just use the arrow keys and adjust your position.

Some bombers have forwards guns in pilot position

I do that as well Jolly.  Just for me I would like to have the option to see things from the right hand seat at times.  I.E. the B29 comes to mind as one where you have limited view to the right even with adjusted views.  Just a prefernce that I would use, thats all.

unless you're turning right next to a mountain, it wont really make a difference what you see.  all you need to see  and know is right at the instrument panel or the clipboard.

i think theres something that isnt being said here. what about when your pilot gets wounded then you just jump into co-pilot? maybe thats the wish in disguise?

Agreed. This would be a tremendous help for myself, especially
in the B-25. Low-level flying is a hobby of mine, and would be
great to see out the other window. With the B-29, it would
certainly help on-the-deck banking turns.

No wish in disguise.  For example at time when I am flying NOE in B25 or B26 and I need to make a right turn I just wish I could see more out of the right side vice having to go to F3.  I know you can go to the turret or the nose gun and use rudder to turn but what I am just saying is if it was an option I would use it at times.  Not a must have thing just a wish.

Unless you're doing a right downwind and need to a reference where to turn base (I don't like using F3 if I can keep from it....an "immersion" thing).  I like the idea....could be position #8.

What if pilot1 and pilot2(co-pilot) and pilot 1 which is the one we use gets a pw. What if we could chose to fly with pilot 2. This is what I want

from an immersion stand point the pilot wont give control to the co-pilot because copilot can see better to the right.  it seems that coading time could be better use fixing some other stuff that needs fixing.

From an immersion standpoint, your co-pilot would be there telling you about any
obstacles while you concentrate on your instruments.

From an immersion standpoint, being able to sit in the right seat will cover your
missing co-pilot pretty well.
