Is this the new milk run?
« on: March 08, 2011, 08:04:46 PM »
Now that the strats have been combined, I see bombers in orbit dropping a couple of bombs on the center cluster of buildings in towns and then moving on to the next one.

Would you prefer I drop the hangers at your base and then move on?  :D

Bombers have been doing this for a while.

Strats are usually the most well defended targets on the map, and don't pay off in terms of perkies or game impact that much.  If you want to go perk farming, taking some high OBJ bombers and hitting a couple town centers is where the money is at.  I'd love to have a more strategic aspect to the game but currently think the strat system is a joke.  My goal lately is to see how many points I can run in a single run with the B-29.  Not a score thing, just personal challenge.  Did my best run this afternoon, 80,800 damage in a B-29 run.

Ooh, that's a good run. How many towns was that? 20K loadout I assume?

Yeah Jayhawk. That was kind of my point.

Way to go on the score though.   :)

Thank you.

It was the 40 x 500lbs loadout.

2 bombs per town center.

17 town centers hit (14 hit good, first 3 were way off).

1 CV missed with 3 bombs, 1 CV hit with 3 bombs (at 30,000ft  :D).

I actually only hit about 75% what I was going for, so if I get another 2.5 hours another afternoon, I may try again.

Overkill, I did 8x 2000lbers (with formation) and that was plenty to kill town centers.  That was about 50,000 damage landed.

The two biggest reasons to go out and bomb something are game impact and score/perks
So a player goes either to bomb hangars or town on an enemy base to help his country... or he is going to bomb a couple of towns to help himself, to get most "boom" for his time invested.

For a single player, there is no real "reason" to go for the most obvious and best defended target in game, other than "just because it's there".

Yep   The strats are not worth the time and are very well defended!  hopefully there will be new strat targets soon, or the ones we have will pay off relative to the amount of protection they have!
