Penguin, just go find something to do. You can find a LOT of stuff to do out in the middle of no where. Take up drawing! The middle of no where can inspire some BEAUTIFUL drawings.

After a few hours of thinking, it dawned on me that if my parents were to ground me for the rest of my life I wouldn't notice it.  I'm a 14 year old kid and I haven't left my house (other than to go to school) in months.  Afterwards I'm at home on my computer, then I do my homework and go to sleep.

My parents won't let me climb trees.  I'm too old for airsoft/paintball (really, those things are for little kids).  A model airplane will only end up decapitating someone, and a potato gun will end up blowing me up.  Riding a bike?  Isn't that for elementary school kids?

I don't know what I'm in the right age group for anymore :(

I used to do that in high school, it was awesome.

Penguin, get a hobby of some sort.  If your parents won't let you do it at first, then it's your responsibility to convince them to let you.  And if you learn enough about it you will be safe (you will make mistakes, but making mistakes is just part of the learning process).  Or if a hobby doesn't appeal to you, just do a lot of different things.  But at the end of the day, don't worry about it.

No wonder your stupidity shines like a dim light during the blackest of nights.

never uttered the words "i'm bored" because there was always something to do.

And god forbid you uttered those words around your parents. In my house it was usually followed by " Oh really....I have something you can do"

I grew up in the middle of nowhere myself, I always found something to keep me busy. (grew up in the late 70s) Hopefully your not to far away from driving age, I know once i started driving, I was gone from dawn to dark.

look Im 17 went threw the phase your in, You will see as you get older you tend to drift away from the computer. It all started for me when I was sick of being overweight because of 4 years on intense PC gaming.. So I did something else but the computer for my summer break from school and It my situation changed dramaticly... Now Im not saying I dont game anymore because I do plenty but I no longer love my computer more then my family...

Well said, I was a WoW kid for about 3 years and you couldnt pull me away from the computer with a crowbar.

I have, and writing too.  I mean something that I can do with others.  Writing is a bunch of fun, but it seems like my characters are reflective of myself-

One's a leader who doesn't think ahead
One's a geek who doesn't know what he's talking about
One's a loner who has no clue of what's going on
One's always angry over the little stuff and misses the larger picture

Why do people keep calling me a troll?  It seems like I need to think ahead more to prevent people from getting peeved.  Gah, but how?

Luckily I'm not overweight, but ironically the very thing that was supposed to get me doing things with others (Cross Country, Winter Track, and Spring Track) has been ruined due to an overly tight tendon.

As for driving, I'm not interested driving a screaming metal 1,000 kg deathtrap.  Even if I were, where on earth would I go?  I get the "here's something to do" response as well, but it's always the same thing (study).  Never anything else- I know school is important, but homework eventually is completed.

Here's an interesting question though, whenever I ask to do something like build a potato cannon or make a model airplane, my parents always say that it will hurt my little brother (if I could hit a human target with a glider reliably, I'd have a future in air racing).

We walked barefoot in the snow to school. I also recall it being uphill both ways and 90 degrees.

We had to decide to either eat food or to feed the dogs..... that only being a choice if we found some roadkill on the trip to school. Otherwise we ate the dogs.

Our first car ran good downhill. There was no engine so we later decided to remove the transmission for better ground clearance. We kept the fuel tank to carry the moonshine in.

I had a horse for awhile but we ate it. It only had three legs and one of them was shorter than the other two.

You have it so easy.

No, it's not normal for it to be so short.
