please change the radar settings....
« on: March 11, 2011, 03:14:29 AM »
for the current "8th comes over" scenario please. its rediculous how the enemy can see us all the time, nomatter how low we are.

me and others in SOAR have been trying to run some NOE b25H misstions on the comms hub inside france. but it makes it hard to pull these missions off when the enemy can see us nomatter how low to the ground we get.

and what makes it worse is, when the enemy engages us and we shoot him down, he just reups from ether the base behind, or infront of us. and knows exackly where to go to hit us again.

its horrible, especially when your deep behind enemy lines.

like today, we did a NOE mission to the coms hub, an enemy upped out of the AF right next too it. he shot down my partner, but was killed himself. he then just simply reuped from 38. the field right infront of where im flying. and went straight to me again.there was no way to avoid being detected, all they had to do when killed is simply reup on the AF infront of me, then follow the glowing red dot to my postion.

one time i even landed in a field, to try to hide from the enemy con (shane) and yet he could STILL find my general location.

please allow there to be some type of NOE ability please, so us b25H pilots can stand a chance.

Hello Tyrannis,

I am not sure of what the settings are, and you have a legitimate concern.  I hope to be able to return to the arena (working on loading AHII on recently upgraded Dell) to see first hand what my old friends are up to.  :x

A couple of things that I would use caution on.  Do you know or have tested the radar range?  Is it the range that has been announced in the MOTD?  I have no way of confirming either at the moment, but I have heard things like radar over water is different than radar over terrain.  Are you using drones, which in my experience seem to prefer to keep a certain distance above the deck

Anyhow, maybe another approach could be escort fighters.  All just food for thought and I sincerely hope that there is a reasonable setting that is agreeable to all.

our standard radar settings are meant to promote fights...it's a concession that has to be made for the settings...had to be a glitch if you're dot showed on dar while on the ground.

i suppose for these setups with bombers we should consider raising the dot deck to 200 feet or so...it's going to depend on the setup though.

the radar settings are set to show all planes, all the time, in this setup.

can we change it to only show some of the planes only some of the time?    :rofl

but seriously Jeager, AZbaer and myself had an issue with it last night.  I announced our flight plan for 2 sets of bombers and Shuffler promptly said he was gonna switch sides and shoot us down  LOL  Now I know we could change our flight plan, which we did, but he still knew where we had already taken off from and just followed the red dot.  He wasnt able to shoot us down but I think you get the idea.

All very valad points i agree with you.

It defiantly takes the hunt out of the hunt or the supprise out of suprise attack...

Think about this though...at the same time pepole like it so they can find a fight and get into action faster..Yes its a bit watered down but helps with the population growth as folks get used to no icons for now it seems to work

i believe we can see the red dots on the map while still on the runway as soon as they spawn. whenever im behind enemy lines i allways watch the map to see if someones taking off and from the place there red dot appears (looks like the end of the runway) and moves straight to the middle of the runway before changing course, i believe we can see them as soon as they spawn.

i love fights too. and i understand how the dar is set to encourage fights, but is that really fair to us b25H pilots?

i mean the heavy buffs usually have 20k+ alt and 2 drones to protect themselves when they enter france, the b25s dont have drones. and have little ammo in there guns to properly defend themselves.

there greatest asset to get into france without getting shot up is going NOE to target.

but with the radar settings now, as soon as we spawn they can see us as we take off, and fly across the english channel nomatter how low our noses are to the water.

then they can just up from one of the coastal fields, fly out and intercept us because they know exackly where we are.
and then if we shoot them down it becomes even worse, because usually our b25s get shot up, and badly damaged, and everytime they attack we ether take more damage or get short on ammo.
but he can just keep upping fresh planes and follow our dot to us every time till he finally gets us. ive started calling it "plane spamming".

the coms hub has an airfield right next to it, so we're not trying to avoid a fight, just be able to make it to target atleast without everyone and there uncle seeing every course correction we make.

if the radar settings stay how they are, us b25H pilots dont stand much of a chance  :(

actually the radar settings only affected the bombers because of radar ranges, no so much the fighters. the admin wanted to try something different this week and he did, that decision was up to him. he was trying to keep people from porking the radar's at the bases.

its now a new week, lets see what this weeks setup brings us first! then we can proceed to complain about it.

even back then, radar height was only limited by obstacles.... so....if there's no mountains....then you're on dar.

still, we usually follow the river in to target, if we're lower then the banks of the river, then we still shouldnt show up on dar.

if you're lower than the banks of the river, you're in the water.

BTW...check off "formation" and you'll have your drones...i think.
