New Attacks Leverage Unpatched IE Flaw, Microsoft Warns

The flaw lies in the Windows MHTML (Mime HTML) parsing software used by Internet Explorer, and affects all currently supported versions of Windows. It was disclosed on the Full Disclosure mailing list in January.




Microsoft has released a Fixit tool that users can download to repair the problem, but has not said when, or even if, it plans to push out a comprehensive security update to all users.

As long as you don't use Safari which is even more insecure lol! Although attacks against macs are still very rare.

because of the memory leaks with the last several iterations of firefox that make it stupid..chrome has too many google hooks in it and opera though more secure than the others, has problems with compatibility.

you have to realize the average home user has less than 1/1000 the knowledge you have about anything except their email address and who their isp is...oem's are just now getting to the point of including chrome with some retail systems and yet people will still click on the big blue e not knowing the difference between it and chrome.

rest your skull...unless you want to go knocking on doors to educate the masses, acting like the great computer oz on the ah boards is just going to give you a migraine...and make it easy for me to make fun of you...  :D

Occasional restart of browser is far less evil than getting infected through a random website. FF+noscript is still the most convenient way to browse - no ads no hassle.

agreed...although i admit i've been using i.e. 8 since it was officially released...with the tweaks i've made to my system and my habits, i don't worry too much.

i use firefox with several add-ons to keep me safe.  not 100% secure, but i think it's more effective than ie.  then again I also use sandboxie too do research on planes as I dont like going into unknown websites.   and yet i get 1 or two emails about missing parcels from whomever, i never open those.  i mostly read emails using my droidx phone anyway.  now I consider myself a pretty safe guy when it comes to the internet.  but I know I can still get viruses or whatever from emails sent by friends

I don't like the idea of using a browser from a company who's income is solely from advertising.  While Chrome is a great browser, I like Firefox's open source nature.

Personal opinion, of course.

Except that Chrome is open source too (Project Chromium) like most Googles products.
