I was in the midst of a furball tonight. When I spotted a countryman fighting a con on the edge of the furball. I figured fair game. So I pick the rascal. Instant PM. Not a horrible one just one that shouldn't be given. I wasn't called off or called in. I don't know how the fight developed or what the situation was. Nothing indicated to me there was a duel. In the past I have asked people if they want me in where there is somewhat of an isolated situation.

I certainly understand being picked is annoying. I was fighting a higher f4f in my F4U1A. It went on for a good bit. Finally I got him in my windscreen and wham, I get picked by one of the 30 other cons I forgot about. Happened a few more times this camp. I don't like it but I don't PM with disgust. I go out and get some kills and it is forgotten. Then too, I think maybe I should check my 6.

  Yeah I flew by a fight the other day content with a couple of kills. I could tell the con pilot was pretty good. Then my countryman asked me to intercede. I was there in a heart beat. But up until that moment I was out.

I hope it was me, I really do.  Because if it was you at A9 in your 15K-17K F4u that dove in to pick me on the deck... from the best fight I've had in literally months, you deserve to be called on it.  Yak9T  (me in the T) versus Yak9U, and the we had been at each other for 10 minutes, easy. I was sweating, the fight was so intense, and we broke away from everyone to go at it.  I had called 5 guys out and they were watching the fight, circling. He had obviously called people out too.  We fought down from 10K to an on-the-deck crazy stall fight.  Then an F4U comes in so fast, its leading edges were glowing from re-entry, past 3 cons watching...  easy shot when I'm hanging on the prop in a 100 yard stall fight.

I sent an immediate PM, and it wasn't mean.  And the other pilot, (whose name escapes me right now), sent the F4U pilot one too.  He was bummed about it too.  So, if that was you, you obviously didn't listen to your countryman.  If it was you, you deserve to be told you acted poorly because that pilot was actively calling pickers off.

No "gall" and no feelings hurt.  When people wish to fight, and they call you off, you stay out.  End of story.  It's not like I said anything bad to the guy. I just asked him if he was called off... to which he replied "Yes".  Then I asked him why he prosecuted his attack and he said "I don't know."  Perhaps he might learn from this, perhaps not.  I don't even know if the OP is the guy who did it, though I don't think so.

Even the DA has turned into a free for all.   Wade through hours of flight time to find one guy who matches your skill level...which should be ANYONE's goal on here.... and some jacktard dives you from 15K.

In the end, I got a new airplane.  No big deal.  Maybe he learned a bit of respect.  It's a game, that's all.

If I had to draw a ring around the furball it was in the ring. There were a ton of higher cons, p51s, going for the picks. I did a lot of looking up. My wingie, Rud3boi, was driven into the ack by a higher p51 and cut his flight short from damage caused by the ack. I may have saved him with a warning. Well that and he's an excellent pilot.

There were other red guys in the area too. All my kills were picks. No other way in that situation.

As Anvil said, "No honorable way to get a kill. You just do it and move on."

It was me Moray and no one called me off. Maybe he didn't see me heck I don't know. An no your PM wasn't mean. Still unnecessary. Your 200 shout wasn't that mean as well. No tard in in it. It was Pipz btw. He was probably disappointed as well. He had been testing the pilots in the area quite eagerly. You were fighting over the town almost within ack range too. The ack had been up but I'm not sure if it was then. And I wasn't 15k. Maybe 6k or something like that.

My offer is this. Anyone who I pick can challenge me to a duel. I'm not that good at dueling and revenge can be sweet.

I've told this story before. There were a couple of pilots who would otherwise own me. After picking them a couple of times I decided I would go in at low alt and give them the opportunity for a little revenge. So I go in at 2k. Right in front of me was one of them. I think okay here we go. But the rascal turned right directly in front of me. What's a bastage to do!? So I fired and got the kill. Seems he had been bnz'd so much he was looking up all the time and not much in any other direction.

Grizz, talk about picking. I saw you in a 262 shoot down a guy who had a  missing wing tip. He was trying to land. Now I'm not critizing you for the kill but gee I don't think you should judge.

For some kind of people, the best fun is a good 1v1. It can be very annoying if you build up an isolated fight, having fun in it, they suddenly instant tower. You can say 1v1 is only for the DA, but you dont know then how low can be the DA furball lake. Also it doesnt feel good when you have good SA, and you know you cant start an 1v1, becouse that con 6.0 away will come and try to pick you. So plz dont jump into an 1v1 unless you are asked.

I thought this sounded familiar <G> Dont worry about it GetBack. Its an open enviorment and this stuff happens. I figured you were just trying to help out and I sure cant get upset with you for that. Im pretty certain there will be more fights coming our way.  

In regards to your statement about geting in there and hurting feelings......
I always tell my squaddies that its the enemies job to make your virtual life miserable
