Increment size of Caps
« on: March 15, 2011, 12:01:59 PM »
First I want to say the split arenas and the off hour arena have been great for game play (In my opinion).

I would like to make a suggestion to tweak the system though.

I believe the caps increment in intervals of 100 (It may be 50 i'm not sure).  This can result in in players being lock out of the arena their squad is flying while they wait for the low populated arena to fill up.  I was wondering what the impact would be if the caps incremented by 10 or 20.  This would probably result in room sizes of much more equal size and more opportunities to decide on what room to join as the cap size would change more often.

Just thought I would table this as I haven't seen it discussed yet.

It's certainly an interesting idea that I don't think I've heard before.   :aok

Not necessarily.
The objective is to bring more balance to each arena. If HT decides to lock out arenas or what ever he thinks needs to be done is up to him, my point is that the imbalance should not be greater than 5% advantage at any point as the arena fills up to maximum capacity in which then it would be 0% imbalance or equal sides at max.

My point being is players have had the chance to prove that we can balance the numbers out ourselves and were given incentives to do so but have horribly failed, what we have now is the polarized sides that refuse to balance things out for no other reason but to simply steam roll bases with such advantages that it cannot be defended against by the underpopulated side.

Wouldn't it make it harder for a group of people to all enter a single arena around the same time?

I suppose waiting for the cap to increase would be shorter but, on the other hand, the caps wouldn't increase because no one would enter the other arena because they are waiting for the caps to increase instead.

It's hard to say.  It all depends in player behavior which is impossible to predict.  I'm not sure how many people care what arena they go to other than the one with the most people.  If the limits were closer this would be less important.  Assuming the number of people logging in stayed at same and they picked an arena immediately, then with a smaller cap increment they would be more evenly distributed between the arenas with the option of which arena being available switching more rapidly than today.
