Cordless Keyboard and Mouse FROZEN
« on: March 16, 2011, 08:38:12 PM »
Greetings:

Last Sunday I upgraded my mouse & didn't like what the upgrade did ... slowed down my scrolling, I decided to ROLLBACK the upgrade hence returning it to what it was.

Upon restarting my PC I was/AM stuck at my LOGIN screen prior to accessing my system, I was UNABLE to login as BOTH my keyboard & mouse are frozen  :frown:  Since then, I attempted to login in Safe Mode, various Safe Modes with networking, etc with no success!

I use Windows Vista 32 bit Home Premium which I'm unable to utilize presently.   This cry for help is typed on my spouse's PC
Windows XP.

I searched for a solution on Bing & Google search engines w/o
success.  Pls help me to unfreeze my Logitech Cordless keyboard and mouse S520 as I'm prevented from accessing my system, likewise, any advice on removing the password so I can login directly to my desktop?  Btw, Logitech Support was no
help!  Thx.

You probably tried this already, but with the system on, unplug the keyboard & mouse then plug them back in.  My niece had about the same problem with her keyboard the other day.

Hope it works for ya.

My cordless kybd/mouse combo were unplugged by removal of the RECEIVER however I'm NOT ABLE to get to my system due to the cordless freeze-up as I can't login to my password to access Vista.

Well just being at the log-in screen will be far enough for it to recognize that.  So get to the log in screen, unplug the receiver (probably a usb thing), wait a second or two, then plug back in.

Also, I hate to ask, did you check the batteries?

Ok I know this sounds stupid but did you put the batteries in both your keyboard and mouse.....?

Secondly did you or "not me" kick the cord detroying your USB socket?  ("not me" did this to mine)

Thirdly take your spouses key board and mouse and connect them to your computer and see if they work.

Hope this helps   :aok

Yeah, we've gotta cover the basics first, because all of us have forgotten the batteries at one point or another.   :rofl

Gentlemen ... thx for ur efforts at helping me ... my PC has ONLY
USB ports, thereby the WinXP PC plugs wouldn't work.  I did what
Logitech recommended & what other types of info I found on Google & Bing w/o success.

Can you beg, borrow or steal{JK} a usb keyboard? I know I have several, likely someone you know will have 1 to use, then try to see if you comp will recognize this.

Once you have that established try to get the latest drivers and see if the OS will "see" the cordless setup.

  hope that helps.

Thx morfriend,  my keyboard & mouse ARE cordless, I'm UNABLE to get into my system as my password won't allow me.  I've the password but am prevented from typing it in due to my frozen MOUSE.  Keyboard seems OK as I can see lites flash on it.
Tried putting in my Logitech disk to update files with negative results as I HAVE TO BE in my system.  :frown:

Any PC experts who can help me bypass this problem so that I'd be in my Vista pgm
again?  Ur assistance is sincerely solicited, TY.

Are there any sync buttons on the keyboard or mouse?
Try those if they are present.

Nope, unfortunately there are NO sync buttons on either the mouse or keyboard.

Tried running my Vista CD (OEM) to overlay problem so that I might be able to get
into System Restore, but it didn't work  :bhead any ideas?

Go buy a new keyboard and mouse.  There is a chance that the receiver for them coincidentally failed at that time.  It's a crazy chance but not worth risking screwing up windows over.

Install your keyboard and mouse on a different computer.  If it doesn't work there then go buy new ones.

I know your wife's keyboard can't plug into your computer without an adapter, but have you tried your keyboard on her computer (surely it has a USB port).

Wish I could be more help, you're being very patient with our simplistic suggestions, I just don't know what else to tell ya.
