WWI planes in the DA
« on: March 17, 2011, 05:33:10 AM »
Why are these planes disabled in the DA? The other night when the WWI arena was a ghost town, I was going to go into the DA and ask if anybody wanted to duel in WWI planes, but I discovered they were not enabled. :headscratch: I cannot understand this, surely they are as good to duel in as other planes. Fix this please?
"Crikey, sir. I'm looking forward to today. Up diddly up, down diddly down, whoops, poop, twiddly dee - decent scrap with the fiendish Red Baron - bit of a jolly old crash landing behind enemy lines - capture, torture, escape, and then back home in time for tea and medals."

Good wish in its essence, but seems a little redundant to me. I mean, the WW1 arena already is set up like a dueling arena. If there is nobody there, that probably means nobody active within the AH community wants to fly WW1 aircraft at that moment in time. The only real added feature from this I see is the possibility of fighting WW2 vs WW1, which is both unrealistic and (for lack of a better word) stupid. See my point?  :salute

They were enabled at one point I thought. I'd like them enabled too.

I think they are only at certain fields.  Dunno which.

I have used WWI planes in the DA. The last time I was in there I was testing the D.VII and a guy in a F4U shot one of my wings to smithereens.
I'm sure they can reactivate them again. Send 'em a PM or e mail.

Could it possibly be the very limited interest in it by the patrons?  I think so  :aok

I don't think there is anything that could be done to ww1 to make it more attractive to customers!

Don't get me wrong, it is quite fun but very stagnent and predictable.

I've thought about it for a while and have come to the conclusion that the MAs are more attractive to most because of the great deal of variables and unknowns. The ww1 arena is very predictable and the fights always the same. The 1st couple times you up a ww1 plane it is fun then you quickly realize just how predictable and monotinous it is.

I honestly don't think the ww1 arena will ever be much more than it is now, aside from the periodic spike in attendence when a new plane is revealed, Iif a new plane is revealed. I can't imagine puting such resources in to something for so few peeps!  :huh

You have two sides to your business. One a successful, well rounded, well subscribed, popular side built up over 10 years of development, and one just barely a year old, hardly developed and largely failing to reach it's target audience.

In business terms, which has the greatest potential for customer growth and thus more dollars in Hitech's pocket?  :t

Sid-I think you hit the nail on the head for this one. It always comes down to 'the bottom line' as in any other
business. The question is that will Dave,Roy and the gang treat WWI as a liability,or an assett? I prefer to think
the latter. I flew FA until it folded last Aug.(claiming this, that and the other for its demise),yet grandaddy AH is
still here... :headscratch:

When were the WW1 planes disabled in the DA?  They used to be available in the dueling fields.
