Secondly, provided there isn't any ground invasion and the rebels in Benghazi can hold up long enough, I think it should turn out quite well. And I don't think this is like Iraq at all - as far as I know, most of the problems in Iraq were/are caused by what were essentially private armies, and also overall tards like Al-Qaeda. I can't see the potential for either of those to develop in Libya - the Libyan people seem to united to let such things develop. Also, perhaps the key difference IMO: I don't think Iraq was ready for a democracy when it was invaded, and I think that is what allowed the entire mess there to get started. In Libya, the events there were started because the people want a democracy, and everything so far indicates that they're willing to work together - both to form a democracy, and to oppose those who oppose a democracy.
Honestly though, I don't understand why the U.S. thinks it needs to constantly be screwing around in somebody else's business when we got so much crap to fix here first.
In case you haven't noticed, the UN resolution was proposed by France, the UK and Lebanon - not the USA. So this is not an American intervention, but more of an international one.
EDIT: I'm pretty sure this is more 'current affairs' than politics...
