I finally got my first responce from the California State Franchise and Tax Board after multiple inquires sent to them for more information, the first inquiring being over 8 months ago when I first hear about suposedly not paying them enough taxes in '08 - they'll be withholding the full amount from my next four paychecks

And it's even more complicated than that since they haven't taken into account money I differed being refunded this year to go twords paying the amount I owe and the fees/penalties aplied to it before I was even aware of the situation is now makign the total owed over 4x the original amount... but I'm sure getting the state to refund some of it after they've already forcibley garnished it will be easy.
Oh well, some things you just have no control over. It's Friday, can't really go too wrong.
