i liked the "old" way
« on: February 16, 2000, 06:41:00 PM »
when you saw WHO was shot down. Not because of the smack talk, but because i could tell if my winger got shot down.If goon made it etc. etc.

If voted on,I would like to see the old way back in place.

And what happened to proximity kills? bring them back also, i liked the idea if you out flew you enemy and he augered you would get the kill, seams that is not happening any more

You realize that your nick prevents me from taking any post of yours with anything but a grain of salt.

I like the new system.  I'd ad that it would be even better if count was not reset if you landed on a paved runway.  Give us an idea of who would make ace if they had to play it somewhat straight up.

Its also time to be penalized for ditching in enemy territory.

I like the new way too. Notice the open channel is cleaner? Think it might have something to do with it?

There is a penalty for ditching- at least there was. It counts as a death. The problem is score means nothing to many, so no score penalty matters. Myself, if it is more expedient to ditch than to fly over to where I'm needed in an emergency, I'll ditch every time.

Scenarios are another situation altogether...

Hey, I really like the idea of not resetting the score if landed on a paved runway... very cool way to simulate streaks.  Of course, Eric Hartmann got shot down sixteen times and managed to keep his streak.  Perhpas your streak should end if you die.  If you get captured (which Hartmann did once) there should be a random dice roll, say 10%, for a chance to escape and keep your streak.

Yeah I like it... would make the MA more realistic... in that people caring about those killstreak would have to organise themselves or have an exceptional SA level.

Would be fun to see who would realy make an ace  (imo you can see it now already... everybody with a K/D of over 5 is an ace in my book since he has died only after achieving 5 kills).

I'm a long way from that tho... pretty bad at shooting bad guys

One thing there could be done though, show friendly kills as names or colour.. (or some mark etc.)

I guess you should get a report if friendly gets killed?
Currently it seems to be no matter is it friendly or enemy who dies, so, its harder to keep up SA when you dont know was it friendly or not who died. (at least there were radio talking sometimes if friendly went down)

It wouldn't bother so much if it would be organized, but guys there are like fleas around, no idea whos going down

Another thing comes there when those dots seems to be verrrrry hard to recognize which model they are, so it might be bad in historical arenas from some distance.
(can't misjudge the side of a bright metal grey dot going down)

Currently I don't see much bright grey planes, just big black dots (hmm, are those planes even bigger from distance than they used to?)

I'm not used to this new way yet but I'll give it a shake and see how it feels.
I do miss the old kill buffer in that you could see the cold stark details a bit more.
Like you knew when a Vulch fest was going on when you saw the same hanlde XXXX being killed by YYYYY or ZZZZ repeatedly.
"Shame" is a part of the online experience.
I hope the new way isn't meant to soften that aspect of this WWII air combat/flight sim.

I do love the fact that you can see the Squadron's name in the Buffer though...

What about having a time limit before you can replane if shot down? Say about 5 minutes or less?  I think that would help make people want to land on a runway, and keep they're SA up while in flight.  Probably might help put an end to HO's as well...

Just a thought,

IC

Not acceptable, do you know how much it costs us here in England ? 1P a Minute, make that 5P for 5 Minutes, then X the time I get shot down (Not because I do HO's, but because I am new at this and learning...)
