custom objects

I'd like to learn how to do some 3d modeling of custom objects to create some sheer cliffs that will be less than 1000 feet high.

Is ac3d (.ac files) the only ones that can be converted for use in the object editor?

Yes .ac files are the only ones the object editor will convert.

That doesn't mean they have to be created in AC3D (although it's easier to start and finish an object in one program).

You can create an object in many other 3D programs and then save it in a format that can be imported into AC3D
such as 3ds, obj, lwo  just to name a few.

Some tho not many 3D programs have a AC3D plugin that will let you import/export the .ac file format.

The hierarchy structure is the key to custom objects in Aces High.

Yea I'm trying to learn the program but it is definitely not for neophytes, none of the tutorials I've found so far are of any help, but what the heck, I'll just keep messing with it til I figure it out.

I decided to move on to Blender, it's free, exports to .ac format and there is a lot more basic info and tutorials available, even a "Dummies" book.

Even if I have to go back to AC3D, once I learn Blender, I'll be able to understand the basic principals a lot better.

Blender after the 2.5 GUI overhaul is a great program. I've been very happy with it, and transitioning from Lightwave hasn't been too bad at all.

Perhaps I need to over haul my very old Blender-to-AH export tools to the Blender 2.5+.

Well, lets wait a official version(2.6?) first with stable API...
