IM Option
« on: April 02, 2011, 05:39:58 AM »
Enough is Enough, I come in last night about 10 EST and within an hour I've had 3 to 4 IMs crying cheat. Thank U fo the option to not turn 200.  Now what about an option to turn off IM.  No playaer should have to receive text or chat full of expltives.

You mean PMs? (Private Messages)

Why can't you just squelch them?

Look at it from the other perspective, if someone is accusing you of cheating they are not happy, if your enemy is not happy that means your doing your job well, so WTG.

To squelch me you would type in:

.squelch batfinkv

then you would not have to hear anything I type.

I understand, and I agree with you.

It would be a good option

I'd personally like more of an IM element to the in-game chat system.
IE: The ability to 'go ghost' as in not receive any private messages,
to set a player's status to 'away, busy, in tower, in flight, tanking' etc.
Also the option to *temporarily* disable all chat, country chat, etc.

If HiTech ever sees this and strokes his beard, thinks to himself 'that's not
a bad idea...' He could save space on his scrap of paper that is the 'to do'
list by condensing it to 'more in depth chat system' or something. Just my
imagination toying with what I want though  :D

But I agree DR7, simply the option to 'disable PMing' would be good.
Put a +1 on your geekness atribute  :aok

I feel your pain and sympathize.  Consider it a bass ackwards compliment when less skilled folk send you messages. Besides as a Doctor of Tanking, aren't you trained to deal with these kind of situations? :D

Not that I get many, but when I do, I just click that little "report" button.

It seems like the bigger problem is the players sending the text not you receiving them. Turning off IM's wouldn't stop the behavior and it's effect on other players. It's probably best to report and let HTC deal with them.

Good idea DR7

I wish you could just trust the community as a whole to have better manners.  As things are now, my only suggestion to help you with your plight would be to try to not be so deadly.

Maybe we could learn a little something here from kindergarten and get a new rule like making it mandatory for everyone to give 2 put ups after they put someone down.

This world is unfortunately filled with idiots. There are people that are simply too dumb to realize that they shouldn't reproduce and thus, you have to put up with these morons and their offspring. The only thing you can do is just laugh it off and/or squelch them. :)

How does the .report thing work?  Does a moderator look at the chat?  Does this happen quickly?  Or wait until Monday morning?

It triggers a giant spotlight to shine up on the clouds over Dallas Texas, Once Skuzzy sees it he runs straight to HTC headquarters and deals with it.
