Markers
« on: March 25, 2011, 11:15:26 PM »
To answer all those wishes for smoke rockets and other goodies on planes, I have a much simpler solution.  It wouldn't be exactly realistic, but it would make the game much more GV friendly, and give CAS a job after they've used their ordnance.

My wish is to allow players to place one and only one flag on the map, visible simply as an icon and not an actualy object.  It would read: Attack.  The player would place this marker by pressing a mappable key, and it would be placed via a hitscan (a perfectly straight, infinitely thing line which travels at in infinite velocity).

There would be several options for this, such as Supplies, Defend, Troops, Enemy.  They would be selected by a flip up menu (just like Battlefield 2).  The player would bring up the menu, select a flag and place it.  A right click would place the flag directly under the player, and a left click would place it via the aforementioned hitscan.

To allow low-end machines to work, these markers could be adjusted via the clipboard to settings: squad only, all, or none.  This would also allow players who hate icons to get away from the "sea of red" that can be typically observed in large battles.

Sound like a good idea, just need to make sure we don't have 200+ flags all over the place.

You guys seemed to have missed the last paragraph of my post:

You can clearly see that you can adjust your settings for it.

Perhaps even an option to set to "Range" so all flags will appear within a certain range of you.

Also, the person who put the flag should have a message pop up every 10 minutes or so when ever they open their clip board asking, "Keep Current Marker 'Active'?". That should help get rid of some forgotten flags.'

This sounds a lot like FBCB2/BFT/FIPR  ;)
