Need help making a logo
« on: March 28, 2011, 12:28:05 PM »
I'm starting my own accounting service business called "Resolve Accounting". I got an email account setup and went to design a business card. The card asked for a logo. I sure don't know how to do that. Any help?

Thanks!

Contact a graphic artist and Pay for one since it represents your Business as your branding.

good luck on getting that free unless its a family member. Type only logos which is basically just your company name typed out may cost you $75-100, for a real deal logo you may find someone that will do it as cheap as $300 but can cost as much as 2k. I wouldn't think your looking for something that crazy but it all depends on the artist. Also take it serious and get someone that knows what their doing, not your neighbor that has some graphic program and make s family calender. You want it to be recognizable not look like a 3rd grader did it and have it available in every digital format known to man. also make sure it looks good in black in white. a lot of people get logo with lots of color and shadows then the first time they make a photo copy or a black and white print out you have a giant black blob that was a logo.

Or the majority of us in this community that are a bit more constructive and/or creative can give him a head start so he doesn't need to waste his money on something he doesn't have to, yet...

How elaborate of a logo are you trying to create Getback?  A company logo can range from a symbol to a contemporary rendering of the company's initials to a contemporary rendering that includes the entire company's name (a scripted or calligraphic "Resolve Accounting") and maybe also a logo or theme ontop of it.  Since you're in more of a "financial management" than creative or artistic consulting business, I'd initially assume you don't want your company/logo to come off as "stale" or "dull" but you also don't want to be over-the-top or "unprofessional", to come off as being well-grounded, responsible, trustworthy, etc..

Simple. I just don't know where to start. What program can I use?

do you have any basic ideas fleshed out?

I use paintshop and photoshop.  I think Gimp might have some basic graphic capability.

If you're just looking for a couple of styled letters as a logo head over to dafont.com, browse the fonts, and install them on your machine (I can help you with that if necessary).

I'm a beggar here so it's hard for me to be picky. I like Mr. Ripley's. I just need to absorb it from a customer's point of view and is it saying the right thing. The cold blue is perfect. Shows some seriousness. Also I see some focus in that symbol. What bothers me a tad is how the upper R promotes the letter "D". Not sure how to address that.

bleh lost a lot of resolution when I made the file. Anyways its an inverted shield with a fingerprint font 'R' .. the inverted shield looks like an 'A' ... you can modify it to your liking and stuff.

You can can design your own with software like Photoshop Elements.

Easy to do.. Here's an example, in JPG format. The original is a multi-layer TIF, which allows it to be printed on any color card stock without the white box being visible..

My regards,
