Karnak, it is a substitution for the F2B. The heavier American variant. These specific F2Bs were property of the RAF.

It is a much better and more accurate substitution than the F4F that was used last time the scenario was run.
I know what it is a substitution for and it is completely inappropriate.

It is similar to running a 1942 scenario and using the Spitfire Mk XVI as a stand in for the Spitfire F.Mk IX (if we didn't have the F.Mk IX).  It forces the Japanese side, which should have a massive advantage in turn rate and radius to fight a fighter that almost matches the A6M2's turn rate and radius while also fighting a fighter that is significantly faster than the A6M2.  It puts the Japanese at an inappropriate disadvantage,

HTC should really add a B.339 or F2B to fix this problem.

The Brewster is slower than the a6m2 except below about 4k.  I think that the a6m2 outturns it, but that's just based on my feeling flying the a6m2 and Hurricane vs. the Brewster.  Anyway, the only other plane available would be the F4F or FM-2, both of which are faster than the Brewster.  Also, the a6m2 is better than most of the IJ planes that were really there.  Still, the IJ gets the a6m5 to help offset that the Brewster we have is a bit better than the Brewster that was there.

Given that the first two runnings of Rangoon worked out OK, and given that the Brewster is a better fit than what we used before, I think it will be OK.

I'm with Karnak although the Brewster variant is the least of the mismatch issues
imnsho. First though I *know* you folks have to work with what you have and it
will still be fun, but cripes. P40E's, A6M5's and the most overused substitute in
scenarios history the ME-110.  I's been 12 years and still can't have a proper
early/mid war scenario.

There are lots of planes we wish we had, but don't let it stop you from flying the planes we do have.
