Anual Plane poll
« on: April 04, 2011, 03:25:15 AM »
not sure how often these polls happen but I think it would be neat to have a new plane poll every January or something like that

I think the last poll was about 4 or 5 years ago.

Not at all, I'm always amused by the stupid behavior of people as a group. A good example is how people position themselves in a crowded train, or how bongo lines form in aces high.

Wasn't there one just last year?  For the B-29?

I meant the one before that was 4 or 5 years ago.

You're right.. the previous poll was in .. 2007 or so?  The only other one I remember is the one where we had the 47N and/or M in the choices.  There might've been another one before that where the Ta 152 was a choice, or maybe that was the same one.

I dunno, HTC is doing a good job of balancing out the plane set, and adding more historacle planes, so I figured a once a year poll and we may get some neat and exotic ( not nesecarly LW stuff) planes ie. instead of them adding a random cool plane, they could focus on balancing and gap fillers, then at the end of the year we could all vote in a "treat"

That. Polls would give us more big ugly fat fellas, while we need gap fillers, luftw. bomber, russian, italian rides, japanese planes.

One or two votes a year wouldn't do much harm in the grand scheme of things.

It's most likely the only way we'll ever see aircraft such as the Meteor and A-26 in the skies of AH anytime soon.

Hey, if you advertise that meteor everywhere, sooner or later you will get it without a poll  ;)
Anyway, one poll in the year wont do any bad effect. Players get their most wanted ride, then HTC still can balance with an other addition.
Edit:  lol Maker...  youre here for a much longer time than me, i didnt know that. Good point there. Meteor would be a new fighter airframe tho... well not the most needed, but still a new fighter.

Since AHII was introduced in 2004, we've gotten three totally new fighter airframes into the game. Three. So, unless we somehow get back to the plane introduction rates of AHI (which I doubt will happen for several reasons), two polls per year would certainly be two USAAF/USN aircraft too many.

Three. I sure as h*ll hope that A-26 and Meteor won't find their way to AH anytime soon.

ki84, i16, p39, brewster, b24, b25, b29, G4m are all post ah2 standard aircraft. b24 and ki84 were the first higher standard models each using a 1024x1024 texturemap.

the 3d model updates have been extensive and new varients have been added during most of the 3d model updates to many aircraft types.

the list of planes that need updating still are:

Bf110 series
tempest
hurricane series
a20/boston series
p40 series
lancaster
me163
ar234
ju87
ju88
c202
c205
ki61
b5n
d3a
ki67
yak series
panzer iv
tiger
m3
m16
m8

Indeed. And just like I said, three of them are fighters.
