To answer the questions, I was videoing two trucks that were holding up traffic, was using my iPhone, and had the phone pointed to the trucks, but I was watching the road. It's not like a camcorder where you have to look into the viewfinder people, think about it before you say something ignorant. Thanks for all the positive feedback - and to =3 for making me laugh, you are hilarious.

Ok- so I only posted this video because my son wanted to see if we could get 1,000 hits. And I thought maybe having a little fun with it might help me deal with it too. I disabled comments because people were being so incredibly mean. So far I've been accused of faking it (really?), been blamed for everything from the high price of gas global warming, and it was getting out of hand. Believe it or don't, it really did happen. Analyze the why's and how's if you need to, but I only thought it was an incredible dose of reality and that people would be shocked to see it. And really people, why in the world would you have to be so hateful??? Pay attention at the 30 second mark. No- it wasn't an April Fools joke, it really happened, and I was fine."

Saw this on MSN news.  Definitely a scary thing to happen.

Looks to me that she was tailgating just a little...(can't even count 1/1000, 1 second, between em)

And if I didn't know any better, I'd say that the truck she was following a little closely, intentionally hit the board.  However, it's kinda obvious that he was just giving the bigger truck passing on his right some room, or was a little scared of it (which is likely).  Since he's hauling a trailer, it's not like he can hit his brakes and/or jink to avoid it.

All in all, had she not been following THAT closely, it's VERY likely that she wouldn't have had that happen to her.  One lucky lady.

well, definitely not following at a good "safe" distance but by the time the board got airborne there were 2 full hash marks between her and the trailer...if each hash mark is according to dot standards at 10ft long and the gap between is 30ft...there was about a 50ft distance between them...considering the point where the board entered the windshield had she allowed just 1 more hash mark in separation, adding 40ft...that board would have hit the grille or bumper...less life threatening but still could have caused problems...she would have missed it if she had been in the right lane...

i think the speed limit sign shows 55mph.

When I watch the video the board appears to be 2 feet or so in the left lane, and it appears truck is moving over a bit to try and avoid it. Honestly I see this more than I would like around my area, boards, plastic pieces, heck even trash bags that have fallen off a vehicle and are left in the lane.

The bigger question is why is this person holding a camera in one hand and driving with the other?
