I about threw up when I saw the add for the show with Gunthar Rall.  "Hitler's Greatest pilot!"
So he used to fly Hitler around?
Who was Hitler's greatest driver?

An old friend of mine used to work at the NYC offices of A&E Network, and according to her the suits cared not one bit for accuracy and/or quality.  Shows were slapped together from recycled documentary footage, with very little research or fact-checking.  All they want to do is sell advertising space, and toward that end they will do anything to increase the size of their audience.

That is a private network and the suits will get fired if they did it any other way. Private television is not for education, not even entertainment - it is just for making money (or advancing a political agenda in some cases). The viewers are a resource to be harvested. It is not because they are evil, this is just the way things are set up. The "hidden hand" of capitalism needs to be there to click on the change channel button in order to change the investment in the shows.

The sudden interest across MULTIPLE networks in pseudo-science irritates me. MonsterQuest, Ghost Hunters, Ancient Aliens, etc. They present all of this as if it's hard science. There's NO contradictory or skeptical voices in the programming whatsoever. It's the worst sort of "journalism."
Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.

Hitler's personal pilot was a guy who's position allowed him to be quite separate from any of the rabid Nazi involvement other than saluting because he was expected to do nothing but be the best and most prepared pilot to ensure the safety of Hitler.

Dr. Porsche (a relatively anti-nazi person) thought very highly of him............there is mention in his book "we at porsche".

Another cool thing that the engineer Dr. Porsche mentioned that seems to not be included in most books is that a couple of russian tanks had forged front armor heated and pressed into shape by the worlds largest rolling mill......which was bought from germany shortly before the war.

The germans were unhappy with thier front armor and had Dr. Porsche study captured tanks from different countries and Dr. Porsche and son Ferry Porsche's information on the armor was not well received as well as Ferry walking in on a dyno test of the T34 powerplant.

It seems Ferry porsche (then pretty young) was sent by his father to see why the t34 powerplant they were testing had such low power output on the dyno yet made the T34 so fast.

While the engine ran and the engineers laughed about the "primitive powerplant", Porsche walked up and undid the governor and power output shot up greatly.........engineers were not amused and everybody present felt the war a little less winnable after that.
