A possible Resupplying squad?
« on: April 15, 2011, 04:11:19 PM »
hey guys, for the past week ive been a little burned out with bombing/fighters. so i started just making resupply runs in the c47/m3. and i actually didnt mind it. it was kind of fun doing it in a relaxing way. and it got me to thinking...

with the new c47 and m3 about to come out, would anyone be interested in a squad with the main purpose of flying supply runs or making gv/field drops in m3s, etc? like, a field is half down, needs resupplied fast, someone asks the resupply squad to resupply the field. or a massive gv battle is going on, the gv'ers could ask to be resupplied by the squad.or, sometimes you have to drop a whole field to take it, just have the resupply squad sup the field to get it back on its feet faster.

its still a working idea, i personally think it would be fun. but i'd like to get some input from the community before i actually go any further with the idea.  :salute

I know they had squads like that in Fighter Ace.  I'm not sure how it'd go over in AH.

not a bad idea overall, but i think you will have trouble getting a bunch of guys to join. Your best bet is to have guys, like yourself, who are bored that day, and want a bit of a change, jump into a resup mission. name the squad you want to create something people would recognize. something like 1st resupply battalion, after awhile people will get to know you and what the primary goal is.

Tyrannis.  If you are having fun doing this, then just do it.  Asking this group will likely generate caustic replies that may be discouraging.  I suggest you just go for it, if it works people will remember and ask for your help and maybe some will join your squad.

Go for it dude  :salute

I don't know if you'll find any eager recruits but you never know. I know all the base-taking squads would be thrilled to have a dozen or so dudes on call for resupps and goons though.

Go for it dude.

The 68'ers used to do this and my squad (77th FS "Gamblers") do it as well, but not as #1 priority.

If 3-4 guys hauling butt in M3's keep making runs it doesn't take long to get a base back up--at least as much as sup' runs can.

It's worthwhile to get damaged bases back up.  Makes the attackers efforts look like a waste of time.

Hitech was looking at possibly changing the number of runs to resupply objects it would take to make the efforts of those destroying the objects with bombers more equitable. I may get a arse stompin here from Hitech if my gist of his conversation in a strat resupply thread is wrong.

It's always up to the individual player to find fun in this game. You might want to see if Hitech is willing to clarify that he is thinking about changing the amount of effort it will take to resupply objects in the future. I would hate to see this idea broken on the rock of the coad.

Another advertised duty might be always available to run troops for anyone anywhere. There is an art to surprising the enemy with the NOE direction you didn't come from. The unsung heros of WW2 were the unarmed cargo and troop pilots who made everything possible.

I'm sure a few relatively new "pilots" would be interested.

I think you should...  Then charge people to resupply.  Set up a paypal account and the proceeds can be shared amongst your squad... = )

You could probably get a small group of interceptors interested in escorting you.

Not just new pilots.  I for one enjoy resuping a base and making all the fire go out in a couple min after some suicide porker gets done ramming his plane into the ground.  It also can be quite rewarding to run supplies to friendly tanks when they are in a good GV fight and you often even get a thanks from the tankers for the effort.

Though I do this on my own and prefer the freedom to change my squad name at will. :P

This. i have a fond AH memory of a couple TT's ago, was a massive bish vs rook gv battle going on, our gv'ers were begging for someone to resup. so i flew a c47 over and air-dropped them the 10 gv supps.did it 2 more times. i think i got like 8 thank-you pm's by the time i was done.

sure, dropping off supps isent as glamorous as getting your name in bright lights in the chat box, but it has its own little rewards.

I understand it can be fun from time to time. But how many of us would actually dedicate all our time in AH to resupplying bases and GVs? I do it a few times a month, but I just can't see myself resupplying for hours.
