Film Project
« on: April 15, 2011, 06:21:23 PM »
I'm stuck making a 4-6 minute film in a group for my collegiate Spanish class. We have to video ourselves speaking Spanish by recreating a movie scene or by making up our own dialogue. So far, the other two people I'm winging with have not put forth any effort (we we're supposed to meet today at 1 in the library to discuss our topic, but I sat there alone for 45 minutes  :bhead).

I have a plan, but I need help implementing it.

My idea is to record the diner scene from "Dumb and Dumber" and replace the original speaking parts for my own in Spanish. I have less than 2 weeks before finals start and I am ready to get this mess done. I hate group projects and this Spanish class is just an elective course. Any technical advice or comments on what I should do? Its too late for me to get into another group.

I'll give them one more week to get their crap together before I fall back on this.

Do the cockpit scene from Airplane!

Replacing the character names with the appropriate Spanish equivalent.

"We have clearance, Clarence"
"Roger, Over"
"Huh?"  ( Que? )

First thing I would do is go to the professor and report the other two for attempting to coast.  If it would make sense the cockpit scene would be great.

working with slackers is not fun...especially when you have to rely on their participation for a grade. the last college group project i did was with 3 slackers...when it came time to present the project, they didn't get any presentation time.  :t

the airplane cockpit scene could work pretty well for you, especially if you have to do it yourself.

Hehe, that would be a funny scene to do, but I'm afraid it inself would be far short of 4-6 minutes. I'd have to bring in some extra content from before and after that scene.

But in order to even get to that point, I need to know what I need to do. Anybody know some basic steps and programs needed to record my voice and place it in with the movie?

If you do that scene can you record it for us to watch?

Sure, if I do that scene. Seems to be pretty popular here

If you have trouble finding an editing program, send me the spanish voice clips you record and video clip via email or another hosting method. I will edit it in vegas for you and send the compiled version back. One thing I am not sure about though, how would we delete the english voices but keep the original background sound going? Anyone know anything about how dubbing of movies works? I'd be happy to help if I can.

Funny thing is I just got done doing a spanish video project for a friend of mine (I didn't take it this year). Basically you were to do "A Day In The Life Of" someone. My friend chose the Dos Equis guy (The most interesting man in the world).

Just film yourself saying "welcome to USA in Spanish", it'll make sense.
