SCENARIO: BATTLE OF MIDWAY
« on: April 19, 2011, 11:30:41 PM »
The Battle of Midway could be a great scenario. Here's a rough plan of aircraft.

For the allies there could be the SBD-5 "Dauntless," TBM-3 "Avenger"(Devestator sub), and F4F "Wildcat".
Objective: Destroy all 5 of the Japanese CVs and fend off Japanese attacks
Restrictions:Wildcats can't carry bombs, only drop tanks, and the TBM can't carry rockets or bombs.

For axis they would have the D3A "Vals," B5N2 "Kate," and the A6M2 "Zero"
Objective: Destroy all 3 of the American's CVs, attack Midway's airfield, and fend off American attacks
Restrictions:Zero's can't carry bombs, only drop tanks.

Gun Battries can be manned by both sides.

Allies: 40% of players   Axis: 60% of players

HOPE YOU CONSIDER THIS AS A FUTURE SCENARIO

SEE YOU IN THE SKIES :salute

First thing, the real battle was only 4 days long. that means that it would most likely be only 4 frames long.

Two frames, its been designed and setting on my hard drive since 2008 when the Midway terrain was found to not be playable.

Have you backed it up lately??   :O  Might see a need...would be cool.  A day during WWII may last 4 frames....if written with that intent!
I trust Fencer to give us something wonderful.

So how's the terrain coming?   :neener: :bolt:    :D

If I understand K-Ken correctly, I'm in for a 2+ frame event all held on one day. It would be easier to free up one 6-8hr block on one Saturday as opposed to several. I did Battle Over Germany though wife flack was considerable.

Boo, I was saying the event could be 4 frames...(one per week) even if the actual time frame were a single days battle during WWII. Sorry if you took it any other way. It would certainly need some imagination to get 4 full frames.

---terrain not playable...seems like it would be open ocean...unless you modeled the island too...if you did that...that would be a great scenerio for sure...

Yes, it has Midway Island :)

It's also such a concentrated battle that it is a 2 frame, then side switch event.  Very hard to stretch that battle out 4 frames, so 4 Frames total, both teams playing both sides.  Really does come down to the team that way, not some perceived imbalance of plane-set.

Much like a Coral Sea or Pearl Harbor event.

Map making forum is right over there, whenever you're up to and available to dive right in, I'm sure the most recent version of the map available will be provided to you upon request for you to start working on.   :ahand

They did, just not at that point and time in the war, so we will not be using them as well.
