Gun Camera additional features

The gun camera in AH is a remarkable training tool.

I just wish I could select a setting that would activate the camera everytime the guns are fired and remain on for several seconds afterword.

I have missed filming so many great kills because I didnt have the time or forthought to turn the damn thing on manually.  Also, after buying the video "Gun Camera Footage
of World War II"  I want to see those same shots from AH.

With this feature, and its current capabilities, the guncam in AH would be *complete*.

We used to have a feature where the camera would stay in one place and pan the view towards the players plane.  Think we lost this feature a version or two after the camera was first implemented.

This was perhaps the most useful camera view for analyzing my mistakes.

If you have a programmable joystick, why not just map the "film on" command to the trigger? That way, even if you forget to turn on the camera separately, you'll get a film of each attempted shot.

I'd really like the option to render Gun Camera images/frames to file so I could compile them into an MPG or AVI later on.

Absolutely! I`ve fooled around with Adobe Premiere a bit but it`s too time consuming making screenshots then making an avi or mpeg out of them.

Waxer - Two problems.

1.  We only have a toggle control of the camera.  So the first firing would turn it on, the second firing would turn it off, the third firing would turn it BACK on, etc.

2.  You'd get a big old dog-choking motherlode of film files on your HDD.

Here's how it OUGHTA work.
Have a command to put it in GUNCAM Mode.
In this mode it turns on the camera for 10 seconds every time you fire.  If you fire again during the 10 seconds, the camera stays on another 10 seconds.  All film from a sortie goes into one .ahf file.

P.S.

1.  An Editing feature would be nice.  I'd like to be able to crop films so just the important bits are shown.  We are scoring the Libya, 1942 scenario by films, and this would help us keep the file sizes down and would decrease time spent watching film for scoring.

2.  Frame Advance would be nice, for making screenshots that show hit flashes, explosions, collisions, and other "instant" phenomena.

Ya want a gun cam, buy a Saitek USB X36F setup.

The advance editor allows key functions to be "timed."

Set it up for a fire button to fire guns AND turn on film for say 10 seconds.

Yeah great Creamo.  It's MUCH easier for us all to spend hundreds of bucks on an unreliable toejamek than for HTC to make some simple changes to the guncam code.

Ouch Funked...sorry I exploded like that. I was just saying it's a cool feature of the new Satanteks, and they are under $100 bucks.

Still, your right, that's alot of money so I just went and returned it.

I found this beauty on ebay for $4.50. It's rockin.

I hope it doesn't take 1800 posts to get it to support camera modes, and the like.

I would settle for a toggle under "flight option" that allowed us to start a new film every time we restarted automatically.
