Here is an example.
I was in a P-38.
Last night I am about 15K and I look back and see a dot.
I have alt, so I go level, the dot gets bigger and then Bish Nick appears on the Icon.
I start climbing thinking, well he will surely lose more speed climbing to me. Nope didn't happen.
Then I see he is low and 3K behind me, and still closing,
SO I do a ZOom Climb and Hammerhead, He climbs straigt at me.
I am diving down, watching the numbers roll down, and can't get him in my sight.
I catch him in the review breaking into a horizontal turn so I use my speed and do an Inside loop again I get a solution and see sprites.
I look back after the pass and see he is turning sharply, I begin a tight spiral dive for separation when some rounds shut down one of my engines. My plane yaws and I go into that turn thinking I will turn faster with momentum. Everytime I look back he is turing inside me and closing the turn. ALl I can do is dive away and spiral hoping to ruin his solution. APparently my spiral was predictable cause his next salvo exploded my plane.
I had alt, I had speed, I thought I had the faster plane. I got gun solutions on him three times, only sprites once.
I was out turned and out gunned. I get people in my sites all the time, in range, proper lead, see sprites, They fly as if unharmed.
I often loose when I start with the advantage.
