Ya know, the new Mustangs aren't half bad, and I kinda dig the new Challengers too (although they really need to go on a diet). If I was in buyer mode I'd probably jump for a new Camaro SS before either though, but that's just 'cause I'm a "Chevy guy" mmmm gotta love a 427 Chevy motor

But on racing heritage and history, Ford does have the edge..... Drag racing and NAPCAR don't count, one doesn't turn at all, the other doesn't turn but one way, and any proper race driver will tell you if you don't turn left
and right you're not really racing, you're just turning in circles.

I mean, who can argue with the Cobra -> Cobra Daytona Coupe -> GT40 Mk I/II -> GT40 Mk IV heritage?

GT40 Mk I

GT40 Mk II

GT40 Mk IV (Only American car with an overall win at Le Mans 24 Hours)

That's all the history you need, IMHO. They coulda stopped at 1969. Enzo Ferrari got his backside handed to him by Ford in the late '60's, then Porsche took up where Ford left off, and old Enzo never took the Ferrari factory back to sports cars with a full works team after that, and they haven't since.
But don't discount Chevy's heritage..... Corvette was taking it to Europe before Ford....

1960 Cunningham Corvette team at Le Mans.... #3 car class winner
How about a...

'63 Corvette Grand Sport racer (the car that Duntov secretly developed just to crush the Cobras, and they did CRUSH them, until GM management found about them and ordered the cars destroyed. Thank goodness he sold them off instead of having them destroyed, and they survive to this day),
or how about a '69 L88 427 Corvette racer?

I'd love to have been there to see this 1000 hp beast smoking it down the Mulsanne Straight at 240+ mph

Greenwood Corvette
stroll through the '80's where C4 Corvettes completely dominated racing in the Playboy Cup, Escort Endurance Series, SCCA World Challenge, etc. Corvettes were so dominant that after winning every single race for several seasons (85-87) over their competition from Nissan, Porsche and Lotus, they were banned from the series to form their own series, the Corvette Challenge series.

and then we come to present day....
and the Corvette owns all!

Of course, I'm biased!
