Need input about rudder pedals, throttle and joystick
« on: April 24, 2011, 10:34:35 PM »
I've been playing with a Logitech 3D Pro stick but want to use rudder pedals for better control, a joystick and separate throttle control.
With a limited budget of $300 I want to get the best bang for my buck whether they are new or used, so please chime in with you suggestions, ideas or experiences with different systems both good and bad.

Thanks

all 3 pieces for around $300 total if you get the free shipping.

I agree CH I've had mine for years no problem. Here is also a good place to buy them.

http://www.provantage.com/ch-200-571~7CHPU00N.htm

Do a search on this BBS and you can find plenty about them.

Here is their website were you can see what they have. I would get the fighterstick more buttons yes you will find a use for them.

The only negative things I have to say about CH is the rudder pedals are to close together, and there have been complaints about the wire for the toe brakes breaking. I did have my right toe brake fail after about six years of use, but mine was because the potentiometer died. Some people complain that the stick is to large, so if you have smaller hands you might take that into consideration as well.

That's all the bad I have about CH products.

They are smooth, loaded with buttons, and when used with CH control manager are very customizable. They last for years. I still have a gameport F16 fighterstick that was working perfectly the day I retired it, and my usb fighterstick was close to ten years old without any problems when I retired it.

For around $300 you should be able to get the full set up from provantage.

Personally I like the Saitek pedals much more than the CH.  They are spaced wider apart and in my opinion are much more comfortable.

I know there are a lot of CH fans here, but I used the Saitek X52 for years without a problem.  You can get the X52 setup (which comes with stick and throttle) and a set of Saitek pedals for under $200.  If later on you decide you don't like the X52, you can keep its throttle and pedals and replace just the stick with a CH stick, and still not break that $300 price tag... AND keep the X52 stick as a backup.

I'm personally not a fan of the CH sticks.. never have been but they are nice and I can understand why people do like it and why they would prefer it over Saitek, however I've never seen anyone talk about how much better the CH Throttle and Pedals are over the Saitek.

I wish Logitech would get their junk straight.  I would love to recommend the G940 setup but since they've been dragging their butts on the ground about fixing its firmware for a year and a half now... well there's a lot of people disappointed right now over it.

yup what tigger said.  that's my set up.  ch fighter stick, saitek pedals and throttle from x52.  fighter stick not as great as they say.  I litteraly burned mine after six months of never ending lost calibration.  got another from a friend that has performed really good past month or so.

I have owned 3ch sticks and only one has performed better or equal than my x52.

If you're easy on your gear, an X-52 seems to me to be 'good enough'  I've been using mine often for the last 3-4 years with no problems that affect me.  The rotaries on my throttle went all spiky about a year ago, but since I don't use them, I don't worry about it.  The profiling software is very configurable.

Can't comment on the CH stuff firsthand, I just know any squaddies who had it loved it.

The Dawg

got any links or info regarding this New "Super Fighter Stick" ,  I have no been able to find anything about it through the CH Products website

I did notice that CH Products has some new items which all seem to be including Hall Sensors in them

link: http://www.chproducts.com/oem/hand_grip.html  ( NOTE: these are Industrial Joysticks )  but no mention of a "Super Fighter Stick"

TC that is their industrial line I don't think they will ever use them in their gaming end. I did see the new units they were working on,but can't seem to find them know.
