New update: Praise thread!!
« on: April 25, 2011, 09:39:29 PM »
I love it! <3 <3

There is a few bugs here and there but the core update is much better.

I love the new GVing. I was critical about the lost of a little realism, but you've made it so much easier. For the first time I am able to actually enjoy the GV's

 :aok :aok :aok

Who ever thought of the new GV system should get a pay packet bonus  :aok

Overall I'm liking the new update - there are always bugs with a new release and these will get worked out.  People that don't write software for a living don't realize the impossibility of testing vs every possible configuration of hardware and software that every user might have.  Just post any bugs you find folks and they will get fixed in order of most critical first.

With the new, and historically accurate sights, the GV game is more realistic.  I noticed earlier that unrealistic 3500 yd shots with an M4 or Panzer are now a thing of the past.  Also, the Tiger is truly the king of the ground war...  As it should be.

Which makes egging them so much more satisfying.

How is that a reason we need the Pershing?

This one will be worth the patches.  I believe that most of the players (adults anyhow) are anticipating a few patches and then lots of fun learning the new systems.  By the way, while waiting out the patches, I found it encouraging to read the list of things that I will have to play with.

I am particularly interested in the new sound compressor trial from the host.  I must have missed this when I logged in, because I couldn't find it (sure I just didn't look in the right place).

Here are just a few things that I would like to thank HTC for their update:

Quote
Changes from previous release

This version completely revises the ground vehicle system and alters mouse function within the game.

NOTE:  The mouse cursor will only appear and function when the clipboard is active or when the radio bar is open.

Your mouse now defaults to mouse look when you are piloting a plane or to gunner control when you are in a gunner position.  You can toggle mouse look with <Shift M> or disable or enable it to default on in the Options/Preferences/View Options menu.  This may not be defaulted on if you have modified your View Options in the past.  You can also set the sensitivity of your mouse look in this menu.

Gunner positions can now be controlled with either the mouse or the joystick.  Both controls are live at the same time so you don't need to switch modes to switch controls.

Vehicles are now controlled with the W, A, S, and D keys.  This allows you to be able to completely control the vehicle while manning a gunner station.  A and D controls left and right turns and W and S controls acceleration and deceleration.  Holding down the S key will also shift into reverse.  Pressing <Shift W> will accelerate your vehicle to full speed without having to hold down the W key.  Pressing <Shift S> will bring your vehicle to a full stop.  Gear shifts take place automatically.

All tanks with turrets and tanksights now have a commander's position in place of the driver's position.  The commander's position can use the mouse or joystick to slew the turret.  Vehicles with commander's positions can only attach a second player as an observer and not a gunner.

Added new tank sights. The German and Russian tanks are using sights with adjustable reticles.  You can dial in the range of the sight using the C and V keys or the mouse wheel if mapped.  Different tank sights have different magnifications and field of views.  Most tank sights are a single fixed power but some tanks (Tiger, Panther, Firefly) have a second maginification range that can be toggled using the zoom (Z) key.

NOTE:  Your mouse buttons will not be default mapped if you have remapped your joystick in the past.  You can map your mouse buttons in the control mapper.

NOTE:  The vehicle, gunner, and chute keymaps have been reset to the new default configurations.  If you remapped any of these keyfunctions in the past, you will need to remap them again.

All keys from your flight and vehicle keymaps are now active while you are gunning.

The gun modes for the large ship guns and shore battery are now controlled with the <Q>, <Shift Q>, and <CTRL Q> keys.  Sea and Land mode firing adjustments are now made through the W, A, S, and D keys while the mouse and joystick just control your view but not where your guns fire.

Tanks with coaxial machineguns and hull mg's no longer have a gunner position for the hull.  It is instead slaved to the coax gun and will fire whenever the coax is fired within the hull gun's field of fire.

The Panther and Tiger now have reversing tracks that allow them to pivot in place.  Just hold down the A or D key with the engine running while you are stopped.

Trooops no longer disappear beneath certain terrain features.  Nice catch guys!!

Added a test sound button to the advanced sound page.

Added a sound slider for game volume when you are transmitting on voice.  This slider is in the voice preferences menu labeled as "Record Effects Volume".  This can keep your game sounds from bleeding into your voice transmissions and degrading their quality.

Added a host option to load a new terrain if the war has not been won within a certain amount of time.

Added an optional new voice compressor that can be selected on the host for trials.
