May 7 -- The Battle of the Coral Sea

On May 7 at 4 pm Eastern Time, I will run (for This Day in WWII) the Battle of the Coral Sea.

Please join us to commemorate this battle.

This is one of the most-realistic setups for the "This Day in WWII" events.

Coral Sea was one of the most-important naval battles between the allies and Japan. It was the first major naval battle following the attack on Pearl Harbor, was the world's first carrier-vs-carrier battle, and was the first battle between Japan and the US where the US was not routed.
 
The carriers in the battle were the USS Lexington and Yorktown, both fleet carriers, and on the IJN side, the fleet carriers Shokaku and Zuikaku and the light carrier Shoho. Lexington and Shoho were sunk, and Yorktown and Shokaku were heavily damaged.
 
As a result of the battle, Japan cancelled its invasion of Port Moresby, which it desired as a staging point for an invasion of
Australia.

The "This Day in WWII" events were all planned and set more than a year ago.  They are just, for each month, the battle that was most significant in that month, run on the day it happened in WWII as a commemoration.

 i was just messing.

 i was originally only gonna have them run it from the 4th to the 8th, but it's easiest for us to schedule an entire week.
