Quick question about the Hi-Res pack
« on: April 26, 2011, 04:21:28 PM »
If I have already downloaded and installed the Hi-Res Texture pack after downloading yesterday's new release, do I need to do anything after the follow on patches (like the one we just got)?  Or am I good for now?

I'm going to suggest you should be safe. The changes were only code-based, not changing any of the graphics.

Unless we specify it, you do not have to re-install the high resolution pack for patches of a version of the game.

I've got a squaddie that installed the hi-res pack on his machine.  Unfortunately, he just doesn't have the power to run it without a significant frame rate drop.  What's the best way to uninstall the hi-res pack?

No need to uninstall it.. Just set your texture resolution to a lower setting.

The settings are the same up to 512. It's just that the default install doesn't have 1024. These are really also 512x512. Once you install the hi-res pack, then it actually does something when you bump it up to 1024. Now if you can't HANDLE that performance, then just set it lower (back down to 512, 256, etc) and it's the same thing.
