immediate weapon/ord selection on planes
« on: April 27, 2011, 11:47:49 PM »
Typically if a plane can carry both bombs and rockets and you want to choose which ord to use like rockets. you first have to cycle through guns, bombs then rockets.
Sometimes I want to fire rockets first then drop bombs on a single pass

This means I have to be lightning quick cycling through guns then back to bombs again.

I'd rather just be able to map one button to bombs and a separate one to rockets

This does seem like a good idea, but look at it this way; where are you going to map those commands to? I'm looking at my X52 and I can't find a single button that I'd remove to add something to fire rockets or bombs.
I admit I done the mistake of firing rockets instead of bombs before, but realistically how long does it take you to press one button two or three times to switch rockets to bombs?

This would be nice for some, but I would rather be able to map which subsequent
press of the weapon select button selects.

IE : rockets, outboard bombs, inboard bombs.
Or : Outboard bombs, rockets, inboard bombs.

Something to this affect. When one 'selection' is used, the next one in line is
bumped up to the slot. The 'hard slot' would be MG or Cannon, as it is now.

you want to have 2 buttons to press, 1 for bombs and 1 for rockets.  or just want to press and cycle them.  I am like the rest, I have no buttons left on my stick. and I doubt many people would even bother to have them mapped if it was offered.

besides where's the fun when you shoot your guns and ping the crap out of the con and yet no damage, then you realize you forgot to cycle back after dropping bombs/rockets  :rofl.

semp
you dont want me to ho, dont point your plane at me.

You know in the real airplane the pilot would have to look down, find the selector then turn it to the desired position.  Doesn't seem all that hard to tap a button a couple times to select a weapon.  It's part of being proficient in what you do.  We already have it way too easy -- let's not dumb it down all the way to ameba level.
