Spawn ID
« on: April 29, 2011, 06:49:18 AM »
I was just playing in a big GV mission and I thought of something practical. I heard a couple of guys talking about how to find the way back to the spawn in order to land their kills. They and myself had a difficult time finding a place to land our kills( I got a ditch). What I'm proposing is that at a spawn, we have a flag that is only visible to your own country, like you CV is only visible to your country, and have it set that maybe we have 4 small flags or hazard cones in a square so we can land our kills in it. As it is right now, when you attack a base, and get some kills, if you wish to retreat, there is no place to land. It's just a thought, but I think it would be agreed upon by others.

Their fundamental assumption was wrong. Spawn points no not have any influence on GV "landing" at all. If you are in enemy territory, only distance to the enemy (if any is present) counts, nothing else.

Spawn point to land??     Just be a man and do it the hard way and your assured of landing your kills...   I once drove my tiger about a sector and a half back to base to land something like 43 kills...

I had spawned into an air base and shot a bunch of tanks and aircraft. Lost both treads doing it and after 4 tries someone finally got me some sups.  I started running for home but the enemy didn't want to let me go and crashed plane after plane into the trees and ground in a desperate attempt to kill me.   Finally I got far enough away from the base that they got busy with other things and forgot about me but with the constant stream of reds flying overhead I had no choice but to keep going lol.

Long drive but worth it. Sure glad I didn't have to worry about fuel lol.

Can you explain a little further...

My question is it possible to get a landing if your ARE in friendly country, and ARE near or on top of the FRIENDLY spawn?

Also...how close to a CV do you need to be to a successfully landed in a PT boat (if at all possible)?

I am not a GV guy much, but I don't think I have gotten successfully landed other than on the asphalt of base or town

The spawn point is just that: A point where you spawn in. Beyond that it has absolutely no function in any way in Aces High. Particularly for GV mission endings it doesn't matter if you are on that point, close to it or a hundred miles away. If you are in enemy territory and undamaged, you just have to be at least 6k away from any enemy to get a successful landing. You can even land ON an enemy base, provided there is no enemy around (that does include manned acks)

It's the same in friendly territory, except that you will get a "ditch" instead of a "captured" if there is an enemy nearby, and on pavement you get always a "landed", no matter if damaged or not or if any enemies are around.

However, these rules are NOT the same for PT boats. There are basically two places where you can "land" your boat: Within a CV group perimeter (be inside of the destroyer screen and stop close to the CV) or by "docking" at the port.

I hope I have all combinations covered with this table:

A word on territory: Contrary to another popular AH myth, it's not the dar circles that makes a location friendly or hostile. It's purely based on ownership of the nearest base. Particularly near some GV bases you can be within your own dar circle, yet still in enemy territory. And task groups are bases too!

Thanks...I think I will make a clipboard map with that info so it is always handy
