And yet I knew that's EXACTLY what you would say again.  You're so predictable.

You're letting your emotions cloud your judgement. Every word you say is seeping with the feeling of deep loss. For that I'm sorry.

All three of their current 30" models have a resolution of 2560X1600.  The prices of those range from $1200 to $2300.
All five of their current 27" models have a resolution of 1920X1080.  The price of those range from $300 to $1300 (most being below $500).
Of their 24" models, six show a max resolution of 1920X1080, and six show a max resolution of 1920X1200.  The price of these range from $150 to $1150 (most being below $400).
All I am trying to point out here is that physical size of the monitor often has little to do with its resolution!

You state that all 30" models have higher resolutions than any model lower than 30" and then state there is no relation with size and resolution. The only reason full-hd resolution is so popular in lower price monitors is because they  use the same mass produced panels as household tvs do. They're cheap so they make a compromise with the image quality and hope consumer buys it (literally).

However as far as real monitors go, screen size usually pretty much correlates with resolution increase for obvious image quality reasons. With some exceptions granted.

You're absolutely correct in that you can find basically any size screens with just a full-hd resolution. I'm not arguing that. But for physical reasons (dot size) small screens usually don't have super high resolutions and for the exact same reason larger screens will need higher resolutions if they're meant for monitor use (i.e. close proximity viewing) in order to preserve image quality. A regular flat screen tv can serve as a good compromise for a monitor, however they usually suffer from a large input lag, ghosting especially when image 'enhancing' features are on, and their dot size/separation may be uncomfortably large for shorter distance use.

Seriously.. get off your high horse and live in the real world for a change.

If you call sticking to the facts being on a high horse then obviously you're used to playing with ponies. Tell me, do you often use tv shopping network? They love people who are not so strict about baseless claims.

Back to the question of the original poster:

No there is no physical size limitation to a screen size in AH but your computer hardware may not be able to push enough pixels required by large screens. The screen resolution defines the performance need. At 5760x resolutions you're going to need a seriously good graphics adapter to preserve a fast screen refresh ability.

While it's possible to run a large screen with lower than optimum resolutions it would be basically a retarded way to throw away money. You'd get a large low quality image where all the flaws are amplified in size - pretty much the opposite of what you're looking for.

I have mine set up at 1080P on a 128 inch screen. That is 5 by 9. Feet that is. Getting shot down is much nicer in HD.

I have seen bigger -A wrap around setup with 3 projectors. sahweeet..

then again definition of throwing money away and what we can live with are different from person to person.  some people are perfectly happy playing on a 15 in crt that they bought along with their 486.  some like us can only afford a 23 in with 1920x1080 resolution.  and some others can afford to buy a monitor every other week. I wouldn't consider any of it as throwing money away.

ripley perhaps you should state your comments right away instead of dancing around trying to sound impressive.  you're last post shouldda been your first.

First of all I haven't danced around anything.

Second I suggest you to try and understand what you read before starting the comments. At no point did I say buying a monitor is a waste of money. Misusing it is.

you implied buying hardware at BB was a waste.   monitors are hardware.  so i suggest you read your own crap before commenting on it.

el-cheapo jokes like the stuff Best Buy seems to store. Who buys hardware from BB? Lol.

I have a hd from best buy, also a video card, power supply, g35 headset, two monitors and a cpu cooler.  none of them ever failed.  I also have a cpu cooler, headset, hd, video card from fry's, they havent failed either.

ripley best buy has some good quality stuff, they sell it at  higher price than new egg, or some other internet company.  but in exchange for the higher price, you can return it no questions asked withing two weeks or a month.  not sure if you have ever walked into a best buy store or not.  but let's just say not much of a choice when buying things such tv's, monitors, refrigerators, sound systems, etc.

I am pretty sure where you live you have lots of stores around, but not where I live.  sure as hell not gonna buy a tv/monitor from target or walmart.  that leaves either best buy, sears, paul's tv or fry's.  those are the only  stores that I know in southern California.

I know even BB can't be all bad. I was mainly questioning the use of its product lineup as an example when talking about monitors which have a notoriously wide quality and price variations. Some shops have very limited selection and often lack higher price range models, which can be a serious problem when discussing about size/resolution trends for example. Due to cheap/low grade ones having standard tv panels at mere full-hd and equally sized high-res models costing double or triple the price.

hey you live in a place where walmart actually has quality stuff.  over here they sell little more than a box with a screen on it.  actually was looking at the tv's a couple of days ago, no monitors are displayed.  neither target has them.  and they're tv's are crappy compared to similarly priced stuff from bb.  but I guess they bring merchandise based on how well (good?) they sell.
