Fishing line in 2005.
« on: May 02, 2011, 11:13:12 PM »
:lol  I remember back in 2005 when I first started playing this game.  When I was GVing and figured out there was a bug in my computer that would not show turret cross hairs I got this wise idea to use fishing line and tape it across my screen horizontal and vertical.  It worked really well and I made some great shots with it.  The only draw back was when I was web surfing I had fishing line taped across my monitor. omglmao.  My buddies all thought I was losing it when they came to my house and saw what I had done.  I also had another thing that I learned from another squad and that was to put a black dot on my monitor with a black Sharpe marker then lift my view over the engine cowling and save that position.  It gave me a greater view and even though I had no crosshairs I still had a permanent black dot on my monitor.  Did anyone else do this ?

The guy that told me about the Sharpe trick used to fly for the Unforgivens and he was a Hurricane dweeb.  He used to say "ROJO" all the time.  Does anyone remember his name ?

Before this latest update I know a lot of guys just simply changed their in game cursor to like a crosshair, then place it in the middle of the screen and press H. No Sharpies, no tape, no mess. I've always just used a head position where the center of my sight is on the edge of the glass though.

I've tried the dot thing, but forget if it was a dry marker or not. I found looking through the gunsite glass is useless. I put my crosshairs on the top edge of the glass as does GNucks. I tend to avoid the planes which force me to look through the glass gunsite. As for the gunner positions I adjust my head above the gunsite glass and don't use the crosshairs at all, if possible.

My brother does this, but he uses those static cling plastic covers from an I-phone stuck to the monitor.  Then he drew crosshairs on it.

It works well for more than AH, such as Bad Company 2 and War for Cybertron on the PC.

Getting used to the dot is a bad habit, on the long term you're better off not using it. Your screen too.

Dunno about that, I suppose some can get used to flying without it, however the rest become better deflection shooters with the dot.

One doesn't need to resort so such "gamey tricks" to be a good shot or to improve your deflection shots. Noir is correct that you're better of not doing it but people tend to pick the course with the least amount of work or needed skill.

I like the static cling plastic, I use it for my auxiliary bomb sight cross-hair in the b29 to compensate for the short drop problem that HTC refuses to recognize. Works like a charm and it is removable!

(please don't ban me, I did not say anything to hurt anyone's feelings, I hope, if I did, then I apologize)
