No I'm only about 2 years into a online flight sim. Why is is a name like " voss" so frowned apon? I have no clue and search bar doesn't work

Before my time too, but I read the VOSS conspiracy thread and this is what I got.

A guy by the name of VOSS scamed the community into funding a "gaming" project that turned out bogus. Apparently a lot of money was scamed out of it.
It is 2 Cents or .02 Dollars...NOT .02 Cents!

At that point in time it was a new plane, a prototype, the 1 was, not borrowed.....  And let's not kid ourselves, he was a warrior, perhaps one of the purest.  He could have out climbed and escaped very easily against the SE5's and from most accounts had the chance to do so on several occasions.  I am not downplaying what this man accomplished, that day or in history, however, I would not call it a gang.  I would call that death, ego getting in the way of rational thought.  Not to mention he was going for 50 kills that day, always trying to compete with Richthofen.   :salute

He got ganged.  Sad, actually.  He never really had a chance and was only dragging out the inevedable.

IIRC, in a borrowed plane no less.

I was ingame about 2 weeks before I heard the stories of the former F16 pilot  LMAO.......

Then again, as the Snail points out, that was a while back.  These days we rarely hear of him.

Do you really need to ask why a name like VOSS is frowned upon in the flight sim community?  There have been enough threads and comments on these boards for the last decade that explain why.

ack-ack
:aok It continues to be a Chalenge to educate the yungins about VOSS

he put bullets into EVERY ONE of the 7 who "ganged" him.  some if them missing the pilots by mere inches.  those bullets hit those pilots, depending on the severity of the wound, they are out of the fight.  he had a chance  :aok       but hey, who am i to say?   the world is chucked full of "what ifs."
