New Macbook Pro?
« on: May 13, 2011, 11:15:17 AM »
Anyone else using one of the new i7 quad Macbook Pros?  What type of FPS are you getting?  Any suggestions for software settings/tweaks?  I'm getting solid upper 50's framerates with the 1GB vid card and 4 gigs of ram running teamspeak, fraps, and facetracknoir at the same time with the "stock" bootcamp/windows 7 software configuration.

Just curious, what's the display, your settings, and the overall price of the mac?

Only thing to be wary of in bootcamping mac's into Windows is that apple typically don't publish decent power management drivers. So the mac's will tend to run everything at full tit (ie hot).

I just recieved a new macbook pro, and love it! I've not installed AH yet as I still have to acquire windows 7. I've got the 15.6" version with the i7 quad, 4G of DDR3 ram, and it says a 256MB GDDR5 ATI card. Kind of a bummer because I thought I was ordering the version like you have with the 1G version. Admittedly though.. I know very little of the new graphics cards out there, so a 256MB GDDR5 card may be = to a 1G card??? IDK. Anyway, I'm looking forward to getting this thing set up with AH and giving it a go! Can't be any worse than my last $350 laptop right!! Any suggestions for a new mac user??

BTW does any of you fellow mac users know if Lion (the new OS that's due out) is going to be able to run Windows based programs, or are we going to have to keep bootcamping? just curious because I really do like Snow Lepard so far. I just wish we could run AH in the Mac OSX enviroment.
