AXIS AAR V15 Strike

Gotta start off with the BIG <S> to all of the squads involved in the V15 Strike tonight.  JG-11 / 412th / VF-15 and 68th.  In 8 years of FSO play this was one of the best coordinated and executed missions I have the pleasure of flying.  Again the BIG <S> to the squads, leaders and pilots of these squads.

Tasker assigned 325th and 68th in G4M's to attack and distroy V15.  JG-11 / 412th and VF15 to provide fighter support in A6M's and KI84's.

Phase 01:
     JG-11 engages enemy defensive AC at or near the target to distroy disrupt and or push the defenders out of sector.  Pull high enemy CAP AC down below 15K.  Fighter Sweep was to start at 10 minutes prior to bomber strike.  From my seat it happened within 30 seconds of plan and played out as designed.
Phase 02:
     412th moves in ahead of the 325th bombers and provides forward protection and assistance to JG-11 as needed.  Again executed to within seconds of the plan.
Phase 03:
     325th Bombers arrive from the south at 19.5K in formation and target hangers and some secondaries.  BDA was 4 of 4 hangers dropped and 2-4 secondaries dropped.  After drop 325th is back in formation and headed home.  Lost 1 cell of 3 bombers to enemy fighters.  I never saw a enemy fighter up in the front myself.  325th dropped 26 seconds late from planned hit time.
      VF15 provided the close escort for the 325th VFG.  Excellent close air escort flown by 2 stacks in tight coordination.  30 Seconds from drop when you hear Rodent57 call out your clear make a good drop it makes life a whole lot easier   VF 15 never left us and only 1 cell got hit.  No other bombers in the squad got so much as a hole.  The attached gunners played cards   VF 15 stayed with us all the way back to the RTB field.
Phase 04:
      68th bombers then approached NOE from the west 5 minutes later and leveled the remainder of the V-Base.  BDA to me looked almost complete distruction to V15.  68th reported losing 5-6 bombers (drones) no pilots.  Some of the fighter escorts then turned back to assist the 68th in RTB'ing back to the lifting field.
  Critical steps for success on this mission:
      AXIS CIC got the very simple and well resourced plan out very early allowing 4 days of planning and coordination's to take place between the squads.  Nicely done "Climber"
      All 5 squads coordinated via email very effectively and efficiently and got the overall plan nailed down and then the individual squad plans.  Several of us preflew our pieces several times off line to get the timing down.
      All 5 squads had good turn outs
      Each squad gave up a single commo man and we had these 5 guys switch to a independent freq.  These commo guys then relaid info back and forth in real time which allowed for the escorts to position to the best locations and for the bombers to adjust as needed.  The independent freq eliminated all the chatter for these 5 guys making communications very efficient.

I had a ball!!! When you plan a complex operation with 4 other squads and it executed perfectly it really motovating to watch.  Again <S> to the squads involved in this operation.  From my position in one of the forward bombers this was one for the textbooks on how to plan and execute a mission.  "I love it when a plan comes together"  Hannibal Smith

Kudos to you on the planning.  After reaching out, I knew you would "do your thing".  All of the coordinating squads were responsive and the plan was executed perfectly.  Those of us in VF15 that stayed tight saw a dot or two but we never broke to engage.  Our mission was to get you there and get you home. 

What a mission.  The buzz in our squad all week was focused on this mission.  2 years ago, you took a handful of us in VF15 and taught us FSO.  We are greatful to 325th for everything you and your squad have done for us.  We certainly learned from one of the best in our view.  Thank you Viper61 and all of 325th for getting VF15 involved in FSO.  This is the one aspect of the game that is a constant and keeps many of us coming back for more. 

Tonight's FSO was icing on the cake.  Though we didn't see a lot of action, it was amazing to see this plan roll into execution.  That has to have been one of the best FSO events I have flown.

A big  to all of the squads that did this mission.  68th, 412th, JG11, and 325th.     It is not easy to coordinate that many squads for an event.  This went off well.  I apologize for all of the email traffic this week.

And...   ... to our CiC this week for getting the orders out so quickly.  That action alone gave us a fighting chance to be successful tonight.

As Operations Relay for the JG-11 Between the 412th , VF-15.68th Lancers, we had excellent com's between all of us. I know I lost contacts at some time but that we When JG-11 went into the Initial Strike Force package and pushed em lower then then 14k Alt I told the other Squads. I am saying JG-11 Did their job pushed the target down and Held the area til the Buffs got in and made their Drops. Last I heard during this strike force package was that the 325th made all their drops and was rtbing and I lost com's between all due to being engaged with the rest of my squad as soon I was down joined up with the Raptors and called shots out to the remainder of my squaddies who were left to provide cover for the 68th's return. Excellent Run by all tonight


As Always Viper you Always do excellent mission planning for your squad and others who provide cover for you and I am Proud to Say I Flew with the 325th and got me hooked on the FSO's

I would like to also congratulate you for the very effective raid on V15.  You are correct to be proud of a fine effort.  As I watched the chatter on command channel from that sector peak quickly and go silent, I said to AKWxman, "that looks like an attack in waves to me".  That type of attack just doesn't "happen" as has been noted above.  Well done.  Mission accomplished.

Once again, nice job on the plan, Viper61.  Always a pleasure to fly with the 325th.   

Sorry that JG11 was a bit short-handed last night, but out here in RL we had pilots driving down to watch Stampf's son, RMrider, graduate from USMC boot camp, pilots out on sick call, and pilots on "night ops" (RL work. ugh!)  We expect to have a better turnout next frame.

Was a fun frame to fly.

The allies had CAP in position for those bombers.  JG11 tied up the SE defenders at the start.  412th caught the SW CAP of hurricanes at around 28k and tied those up.  Even though we took heavy losses (of our 6 pilots) I didn't see a single hurricane break off to the bombers.  Excellent work <S>.  On a side note I was the 412 comms guy.  The command comm was one of the most coordinated and effective I have seen.  No mindless chatter, only concise accurate squad to squad comms.  I was able to keep 412th exactly where we needed to be in relation to the bombers (even relinked our stragler before the target).

Wow!  I'm pumped to hear how that attack went down!

When building the orders I wanted to put together something that had "direction" but not micro-managed.  I added (at the last minute of typing) a line asking attack and escort squads to coordinate for effectiveness.  I expected this to happen a few minutes before launch if at all.  I never expected to have squads with such professionalism and eagerness to accomplish their mission, take it to this level, and coordinate early in the week.  Excellent job of Mission Accomplishment.

Again HUGE <S> to everyone last night and looking forward to doing it again next Friday.

I want to add that was climber's very first time at CiC.  Ask your CO and volunteer for the job.  Test your planning skills.  The important thing is . . . Have fun!

BIG <<S>> to all the squads we flew with last night.  Everyone did their jobs, and did them very professionally.  I havent been around as much as I once was, but I never miss an FSO... and this one was by far one of, if not THE best mission I have ever been a part of.

Great job to everyone who helped put this together.
