Lazy Drones

I'm having a problem with the Lancaster's, B-17 and B-26 drones. It seams that I allways have a lazy one that wishes to fly low and behind. I can get it to catch up and get alt by reducing power. Some times I loose it before I get to my target. Whats up with that?

Does it happen all the time after take off or when one of those drones looses an engine?

Solved your own problem.  Don't fly with the throttle firewalled from takeoff roll to landing.  The drones can't go faster than you...

Yes this happens all the time. And No I don't firewall it in level flight!

no but they fly at the fastest and most expedient direction to catch. ive never had this happen to me

I suggest you film (record) it and post a link to the film.

This happens to me if I fly full power all the time or turn too sharp. In any event I always throttle back to let the slow one catch up and don't wait until it is too far away and loose it. If I leave the PC unattended for a long flight I throttle back and have no problems.

this is a new problem, started with the new version. Been flying bombers for 4 years, never had this problem before.

Yes I concur.. I've had this happen to me a time or two as well.  Started once they changed the behavior of the drones right after the B29 release.  I'll try to get a film of it next time it happens.

It is a feature not a bug the drones are not as responsive just cut back and wait for them to catch up no problem.

We could also do with some slightly less retarded crews for the drones, ones for example that can manage a 75 degree turn without losing the plot and sailing off into the wild blue yonder. I'm fairly certain in RL the group leader didn't have to concern himself with losing half the group as he turned onto target.

No it's a bug.  One drone follows just fine and the other drone kind of flies NOE over the trees at about 80mph.  Sometimes if you slow way down and drop down to the treetops then it MIGHT catch up but the vast majority of the time it ends up simply plowing into the treetops and blowing up.  This should not happen at all on a normal take off (this even happens during auto-takeoff at times).

If this way by design, then you'd think that BOTH DRONES would show the same behavior.

No it doesn't happen every time.. it's more rare than it is common but it does occur.

No films for examples, No specifics (Heights, speeds etc).

Guys you need to support your bug reports with some detail. Who knows if you are attempting to take off a high Alt field with obstructions or whatever.
I would put money on it that some of you are pushing the envelope too far and distracting from a genuine problem.

NOE flying for a formation is all well and good so long as you don't cut it too fine. Certainly your take off needs to be normal to get the formation together at the start. Turning too tight and loosing a drone is just bad flying especially if you don't cut the power back to let the outside one keep up! Other than that, irrespective of speed, you can simply turn too tight and loose drones.

I would suggest you record all your missions so when you have a problem you can edit the film to show the problem(s). Leave a couple of minutes of OK flying either side of the problem so it can be seen how the problem developed. You don't need to save the films when missions are bug free!
