Game locks up when trying to connect

Downloaded and installed Patch 3 and now the game locks up when I try to connect to the online server. The text on the clipboard disappears, the mouse cursor freezes (but it works if I move it outside the AH window), and the AH program can't be terminated. Offline Practice and Account Admin work fine, PingPlotter shows my net connection and link to HTC is fine, and it's not the usual firewall issue - it never even gets that far, the last 8-10 updates or so I just got the usual permissions box, now that box doesn't pop up - I made the opening screen window small enough and moved it to the side that it wouldn't block any dialogue box that popped up. Again, this issue only started with the patch.

I ran DxDiag, saw no issues, and saved the info, but the file exceeds the max. post size - please advise as to which sections, if any, you need to see.

It sounds like the game is being blocked/denied access to the Internet.  Specifically, it is not being allowed to verify the version of the game you are running.

Problem appears to be gone. I turned off the firewall just now (don't know why I didn't think to do that last night, probably just too tired) and logged on, it downloaded patch 4 and then I connected fine. When I closed AH and tured the firewall back on, then ran AH again and tried to connect, I got the usual dialogue box asking whether to trust AH, clicked yes, and now everything works normally again. Don't know why I didn't get that last time, but I guess I know what to do if it happens with a future update.
