We owe 325th some planes...

VF15 offers an apology to the 325th.  Our stay over A37 was short and sweet.  My hats off to the Allied attack there.  There were too many good sticks there.  I noticed the Gunfighters in the results.  Love flying with you guys.  Hate flying against you guys.  You did a really nice job.  VF15 was in supply of being gunners...

I am speechless...   ...you guys were in tight.  It appears we did more harm than good gunning for you.  When the allied fighters got in the formation, and you guys were in a really tight formation, we shot at the enemy.  But...   

...we appeared to have shot down our own bombers...

We owe you guys some planes...

So sorry about that.

Slip no worries your guys did a great job.  Tight formations always increase the odds of friendly fire but in general that is better than a lose formation that can't be controlled or protected.  Your guys can gun for us any time.

The 325th really saw what your squad could do in Frame 02 and thats all that matters.

Were you the Ki-61s at 32K, slip? Or the ones at 30K?

It's so hard to keep track. Oh, let's not forget the ones at 31.5K!

@ Viper61 - Still though...   ...We wish we could have done more.  We didn't feel like we did you guys any favors.  Of course it wasn't intentional.  We just wish we gunned better for you.   :cheers:

That was an impressive attack at A37.  I discovered that WD40 and Gunfighters were some of the escort squads.  My hats off to that attack.

It's so hard to keep track. Oh, let's not forget the ones at 31.5K!

8 to 13K looking for NOE.  There were 2 of us in the expected approach area and 1 in another area.  In fact, I was the first one in the formation of B25s.  Why do you think I was between 30 to 32K?

It's just Krusty being Krusty; hijacking yet another thread to try to his own agenda - probably complaining about Japanese fighters flying way high up in the sky where he figures only the American planes should be allowed to fly.

Back on subject SlipKnt...as Viper61 said, we welcome any help you guys are able to provide.  We know you are capable and can be trusted to do your best.  :salute

I asked if you were the ones at 30k or 32k because the only thing I've seen to date in all 3 frames was an ENTIRE sky of of enemy Japanese planes diving in from well over any of the alts the nearest allied plane could get to. Entire skies filled with Ki61s and Ki84s from over 30K.

That's all I've seen so far in 3 frames, so I had to ask "which alt monkey are you?" -- if you were searching for NOE, good for you. Sorry for the implication, but I never saw anybody low that wasn't gang banging allied planes and still had altitude on them.


It was a bitter and rather lopsided FSO, IMO.

I could hardly get the Ki61 over 30K in Frames 1 and 2, in fact we cruised around 29-/+.

The A6M3 on the other hand...  :noid
There must also be a flyable computer available for Nefarious to do FSO. So he doesn't keep talking about it for eight and a half hours on Friday night!

You probably should have just created a new thread (or just quote one of the many other of your complaint threads) with your concerns about how the event was run and the fact that you don't like having "no alt caps" for the side you're not on.  Why hijack a thread with snide comments about "which alt monkey are you?"...

Tactically speaking...

...Frames 1 & 2 taught us that Spits and Hurricanes were sweeping defended targets at 30K plus. 

Also, in frame 1 when we defended A38, a NOE attack came.  We dropped our CAP to persue.  Then a high altitude strike came that kept us from climbing back to the 27K B25s and fighter sweep because we were low in the Ki61.  The Ki61 (through research) is at its max performance between 13 to about 15K.  Having altitude would give a slight advantage to make a BnZ pass 1 or 2 times only.

Frame 2, we were an atatcking force.  As the embedded escort, we sent in multiple fighter sweeps as well as a multi altitude attack and did well.

Frame 3, we were assigned to defend A37.  Having learned from frames 1 & 2, we decided to have flights at multi altitude.  We maintained altitude discipline.  In this case, we were beaten down by good squads.  Main force came in NOE.  It was impressive.  We brought our remaining Ki61s from high altitude to engage with us on the deck. 

If you were at A37, whether Axis or Allies, you would know that it was short and sweet.  Additionally, even though we weren't in the air that long, it was a fun night for us.   

As far as being an alt. monkey...   ...I am not good at BnZ.  I don't play that way, and if we were at altitude, it is by design and in coordination with multiple squads for tacticle superiority. 

But, there is no reason to call someone out in the forums making accusations without knowing the whole concept.  Understanding the plane you are flying and understanding the planes you are up against along with the terrain, supporting squads, and approaches is what should determine altitude.

I am no alt. monkey, Sir.  I get right in it and fight til I die or kill my opponent. 

Quite frankly, frame 3 was fun.  I am embarrassed by my gunnery for the 325th this frame, however, we did our best and had fun in the process. 

And, in the end, altitude is sometimes a good thing to have energy in a co alt merge, hoping to bring the fight down to the max performance range of the plane you are fighting in.

I simply don't understand your thought process about that with regards to altitude. 

So, with all do respect, I don't think you have a leg to stand on with your opinion of altitude with regards to tactical thinking in FSO.

First two frames, I was a Ki-61 driver and tired of running into 28k B24s with 30k P40 escorts, third frame my Squadron 367th decided to meet the buffs and escorts half way, however in a bad turn of events we ended up dog fighting all 40 or so escorts vs our 11. Good thing about it, we made the majority of the escorts drop their tanks and unable to continue to escort. Looks like the LCA Squad had a blast popping buffs.

Whole goal was to catch the buffs at an alt where we could actually perform, rather then waiting at 30k for them to come in at 28k and we can't catch them after the first pass.
