BaldEagl's post

BaldEagl's post was locked for a violation of rule 4. Not sure why, he was stating an opinion many share. This one will probably get locked too because I agree with it.

It wasn't the opinion as much as HOW that opinion was stated.  It sounded a bit of a flame and certainly sounded disrespectful.

A couple of things from the other thread that can be addressed:

"Now when I launch to a spawn I'm not even sure which direction I need to go until I get moving." - This has not changed; you always face the direction of the spawn.  If the spawn is SW, you'll spawn in facing SW.  If that spawn puts you NW of a base, you'd have to turn approx. 90 degrees left to the SE to face the base.  If that spawn puts you SW of a base, you'd have to turn approx 180 degrees to the NE to face the base.  You seldom spawn in facing the enemy.

"I hope a revamp of strat is coming up.  I'd like to see maps with trains running all over the map, not just 100s of miles deep into enemy territory." - We'll probably not see a major change to the strats for some time to come.  When terrains are built, trains are the supply line for strat targets and truck convoys are used for bases.  You can't just put train tracks all over the place, but I suppose there's no real reason you can't make trains supply bases too.  But, it's all up to the map makers and HTC's approval of them once submitted.

badhorse: Your post is no problem, it is stated in a simple direct manner. Do you really think BaldEagl's was?

The delivery of the fact, opinion, or observation is just as important as the data itself.

I was going to point out the W/S and speed/cornering issues, compass bearings, etc.  I was in the middle of responding to that thread when it got locked.   :furious   ;)

because I agree with it.
Give it a year, maybe even 6 months and no one will remember what it used to be like anyway.  Thats just the way we roll around here.

HiTech didn't delete it.  It is the locked thread down below about not liking the new GV system.

Let's face it, it WAS disrespectful of the work all the staff at HTC do. If someone comes to me and tell me I don't know how to work and/or my work is a load of crap(sic), I'll find him quite insulting. It was a whine thread until the last part. That's when it got disrespectful.  And besides, he claims things doesn't work as advertised when they clearly do. How they do NOT work, is the old way.

I don't think there was or ever has been an issue with a player voicing an opinion.  Like most things there is a right way and a wrong way to do it.

im sorry too hitech, but i gotta agree. i mean, i like the commander position, and i like the new gunsights for tanks, but why make it more like world of tanks? i gave up WoT for AH ground war, and then i find out that its been made to be just like WoT's?  :uhoh

and alos buff gunning, please hitech, im begging you, take it back to what it was. it feels like mouse users got screwed over so bad with this setup. this turrets dont move as smoothly as they used too. its all spontaniously, and jumpy.  it was so much better with the old gunning mechanics.

or atleast maybe create a way to choose which type of mechanics we want to use?  :salute

Clearly I regret the wording of last part of my post.  I don't always agree with the changes that HT makes but I could have worded that much differently.  On balance HT and staff do more good work than bad.  I guess it's just the parts you don't like that get to you and as I typed I got a bit worked up over it.  On a related note I also have to refrain from posting after I've been drinking a little too much.  It gets me in trouble on occasion.

I still don't like the GV changes very much.  I wish I could keep my clipboard open, that I could steer with my joystick (x/y axis) and that I had manual gear selection.  On the joystick part how about a mode switch to use it either for steering with x/y or gunning with x/y with rudder steering enabled.  I also don't like the mouse look thing.  Last night I was trying to load GV suppies and my turret was swinging to the top left of my screen as I moved the mouse up there to click on load supplies.  I also noticed that you can't calibrate the new gunsights with your clipboard up and, as mentioned in my other post you can't get out of first gear until you close your clipbaord.  You also can no longer use your cursor to set a sight in a flak gun so for the most part your shooting either blind or without a sight.  I know there's more but these are a few examples of what I'm not too excited about.

I don't think these are whines.  I think they are fundamental problems with the new system that make it less fun to GV.

[EDIT]  I wasn't going to post this but then decided to anyway.
I edit a lot of my posts.  Get used to it.

rudder control for steering and joystick for aiming is in place now baldeagle....as for the as for the mouse cursor and collecting sups yeah  that is a little crazy...I just up the clipboard and put it to the side of screen....lets mouse cursor do what you want then and can still drive around.
