:lol you've never used the TE have you?

Grinder?

I've submitted a terrain for the AvA, and am still working on a medium map for the MA.  It's not as fast and easy as some would like to think, and it takes HTC a while to validate them before stamping their approval for making them live in the rotation.

Yes I have.

sry missed that. so you'll appreciate better than most that very few players will have the technical skills to work with a 3D modelling app (and the TE isnt the easiest to learn on), fewer the creative talent to make an interesting and realistic feeling map, and fewer still to combine all this with a deep understanding of the way the map layout and gameplay mechanics interact. not to mention the time it takes.

point is its fine saying "maps are player made", but the reality is that they generally arent. imo the new grinder map is the best thing to happen to this game since the graphics were updated. and when you look at the great work thats gone into some of the SEA maps its a shame we cant have some of that for the MA (north african desert, snowy northern europe etc).

Yep, no arguement from me.  ;)

Only a small group of elite techo-geeks has the patience and brain wiring to use the TE in its current form.  I am not "elite" status yet - far from in in fact - but am geek enough to create something that hopefully will see the light of day online.  :D

that's kinda the point isn't it? of course we would like new terrains...there is no question of that...but then it comes down to "how bad do you want it?" a person who wants to take the time to learn how could do it if it means that much to them...htc has provided the tools and there are people who did take the time to learn then turned around and created tutorials for people to learn from...plenty of assistance too. it's not impossible to do, just very time consuming.

or wait for htc to do it...after they address the bugs people report, which can't be done by players...and create new aircraft and vehicles, which can't be done by players...none of us knows the full depth and scope of what htc staff has on their plate daily.

as much as i would like to see new terrains too, i'd much rather have htc devote as much time as possible to introducing new aircraft and vehicles...
