The P-82 was used over Japan for live firing tests to see how easily the P-82 could avoid Japanese AAA.  There is a very respected member of the AH community who's uncle was a test pilot that died during one of these test flights over Yashikamijojo in 1945.

Nope, the P-82.  Maybe the player who's uncle died over Yashikamijojo would provide more details on his last mission.

My dad flew P-59`s with quad 20mm over Okinawa he downed 5 bettys 2 ki-100`s  and several weather balloons  :cheers:

SpencAce great idea!  I don't know how we overlooked this airplane all this time and I know a lot about WWII.  I researched the raid on Macho Grande where the P82 would have been so much more effective.

Striker never did recover from that fight.  Was a sad end to an otherwise glorious career.  Of course George Zipp never returned. <S>
