What Was The Most Important Target?
« on: May 31, 2011, 07:20:19 AM »
Here is a interesting idea that occurred to me while watching tv. The most important part to any military action is the supply line. Just ask Hitler... In AH I know we have supply trucks and resupply M3, but what if we made that a little bit more interesting. The most important ground target of WW2 was bridges. We spent thousands of hours destroying bridges just to slow up supply. So here is my suggestion.

(1) Create a Giant bridge next to each base on the resupply truck road. That shouldn't be to hard seeing how there are already bridges on this road. Design them once then just repeat the placement of them on the road to the black building the resupply trucks drive to.

(2) Make these bridges destructible. Something like a CV. Maybe 7,000 or 8,000 lbs.

(3) Reassign down time to destroyed hangers and strats to 10 minutes instead of 15. This will make it harder to simply shut a base down and have all day to capture it.

(4) Make it so that if the "Supply Bridge" is destroyed then the hanger down time goes to back to 15 minutes. This helps prevents overwhelming hordes that really kinda ruin the game for some.

To me, as a veteran of this game, this doesn't seem like it would be to very hard to implement into the game, and I can see how it would add a new spice to the game. Just a suggestion so plz don't thrash the idea to bad. Just wanted to see how you all felt about it.

I just realized I left something out so here is an addon.

(5) Make the "Supply Bridge" have a down time of like 15 or 20 minutes. If you manage to destroy this valuable target then capture the base becomes easier, but if not, then capturing the base is much harder.

Like I said this idea may not be perfect but its just my idea of something that we can do that would have a noticeable impact on the MA.

I see what your saying about the AVA, but honestly who plays the AVA? Me and the Loose Deuce may jump in there from time to time but there is hardly ever over 15 people in there at any given time. You may be on to something though. Try out this bridge in the AVA or in a Special Event Arena sometime. Just to see how it works. See how players respond to the idea.

We do already. Have been for over a year.

Come on in and add to the numbers. Squad team work is needed. LD is great at that. We are always happy when LD joins in the fun. We encourage wing tactics and team play. It will be needed for the upcoming Setups.

When I first started AH I there were some cool things they no longer have. Bombing was not as accurate as today, there was a wind speed and direction that is now disabled, and I even crashed on takeoff hitting the craters on the runway. Taking out Runways, Bridges, Trains, Factories (we still have) was critical to the war effort. I think the intense programing of the plane set we now have has made certain frills difficult to retain.  :(

yeah that might make it more tactical and you have routine patrols around that area

Why? You hordes already take bases fast enough why make it even easier for you hordlings!  :devil
When I die bury me in a P38.

I watch day after day, week after week, tour after tour, the Bishops and Rooks take bases and win maps while the Knights stand there with their thumbs stuck in their butts. It's just pathetic!
