Austal USA: hiring like crazy to build stuff for the US Navy

One of my friends works at Austal USA and they landed the contract back in December from the US Navy to build the LCS class ships. They are hiring immediately for people that are welders, accountants, engineers, electricians; just about anything and everything. Pay starts out at $15 an hour in Mobile, AL (pretty good pay rate for that area) in the basic stuff and they want people now! They are going to add 2,000 employees and started back in January looking for these people. If you or anyone else can do what they need then apply.

my cousin is 22, just out of the army(drove paladens) and has welding experience. i sent him this link. hes been hoping to get back into welding ever since his first welding job fired him for trying to take night classes.

Just glad to know that someone might be able to land a job in these times. Plus its not a bad area being that close to the Gulf and the fishing and the hunting here in Alabama are great as well.

Of cource, state of the art defence/naval development is painted in big bright letters above the front door, but that's why these jobs are seriously top-notch in terms of incentives to keep your average mortal employee's loyalties and priorities in place.  The Skunkworks has been doing in one of the most populated corners of the country for years.

It isn't OpSec since its public knowledge of who the contracts go to and who is hiring. Since OpSec only applies to the actual operations in the theaters of combat.

you can actually stand across the river and watch them build these ships. 15 an hour ain't bad considering rent is usually 550 a month

I meant more like 'thanks for the tip' says cousin Joe who got laid off for negiligence from his past 5 employment places. Before he places a cooked weld to a critical part of the ship...

I know welds are x-rayed so it was meant as a mental image joke.
